I have a feeling we'll get drawn with Bournemouth

And today, I'll be having a go on the lottery for the first time in my life! I'm very superstitious!

Stick a tenner on for me too Nick!

Missed your note yesterday but I hope Japan is treating you well. You enjoying the cold north?

Hello mate! I will do!

I'm back in Tokyo now, but the North was good with great seafood. My girlfriends father owns a yakitori restaurant, so a lot of free beer, bbq and crab etc etc.

I hope you're well mate.

Yakitori sounds like the Japanese version of Jackanory. as for Bournemouth, I distinctly remember them coming to VP in 1987 when Redknapp was manager and they looked like an overweight pub team.

And got a draw.

They had a centre half who looked at least 50, stone and years.

Mark Walters scored our 6,000th League Goal that day.

I remember this because in the following match's program they had a picture of said goal, and on an advertising hoarding behind him one of the telephone numbers ended in 6000, and they claimed it was 'spooky'.

Soooo excited about this. That game was the very first villa game my dad took me too. He was originally from bournemouth before meeting my mum and living in worcester since 50's. we still have family down there, and a couple are season ticket holders. As a surprise for my dads birthday last season they got us tickets for st . Andrews sat in the cherries end as that was the first time he had seen them play live for a good few years. It was a great day and they thumped blues, just as this year !! They don't seem to play their first choice 11 in cup games given their focus on promotion so should be interesting. From a purely selfish point of view I hope its a Sunday game as we are going to Liverpool game and getting 2 consecutive Saturdays off is a problem !

i have absolutely no recollection of the home game. Remember the away one well, though. Some poor bloke doing his garden behind the away end as some chaps started throwing bits of wood into it which caused him to get rather vexed.

Pravda

Quote
The date has been set for Villa's fourth round FA Cup clash with Bournemouth.

We face the Cherries in B6 on Sunday January 25, with a 3pm kick-off.

The match will not be televised.

Bournemouth, of the Championship, are managed by Eddie Howe.

They currently sit top.

It will be only the third time the two teams have met in a competitive fixture at Villa Park.

In 1987, Mark Walters gave the claret and blues an 11th minute lead before Trevor Aylott equalised after half-time in a Second Division contest.

But the real memorable encounter took place in February 1973 in a  top-of the-table clash in front of 48,110 - a record Third Division crowd.

This time, the south coast side went ahead through Ted MacDougall but Geoff Vowden and Andy Lochhead turned the game on its head to record a famous Villa win.

Ticket details will be confirmed soon.

I knew it wouldn't be on TV. Hopefully being a proper KO time boosts the crowd.

Edit: I read it that we were playing on Saturday. Oooops.

Apparently as neither game was chosen for TV, WMP tossed a coin for who played Saturday. small heath won the toss. Expect a souvenir 8 page special in the Mail tomorrow. Dates for the civic reception have yet to be confirmed.

I'm quite sure we could both have played on Saturday at 3pm with little to no issue.

So until we win the toss at the start of a game and they don't we have to listen to them banging on about how they have won the toss of a coin more recently than us.

Quite possibly, but I doubt WMP want to have to deal with policing Villa, small heath and Albion fans at the same time as well as a few thousand Bournemouth fans.

I very much doubt you would ever have Villa and Small Heath playing at the same time, both at home, and the day passing without incident.

We've played at the same time before without anything of note happening.

The noses played at home all last season without anything of note happening.  This season we are doing the same.

It happens most seasons (before TV it used to be every season). Every time it's regarded as a shock and nothing every happens.
