Whilst that is true and the win was the most important thing, if our manager chooses to ignore the nature of the win then we're doomed to failure.

We could draw our way to 38 points a season... would that be acceptable??

The performance was insipid and dull, we were bereft of ideas of didn't look like scoring until we did.

That said i can't understand the fans who go to a game like this, sit in silence for 80 minutes and then belt out "we want lambert out" like they were marching to war.

There was a quality section of around 50 lads in L7 for the game who got behind the team for 90 minutes despite everything. Plenty of people in the group think Lambert should go but booing the team at half time and chanting for his head druing the game isn't the way to go about voicing those concerns. I doubt i'd still be following the villa if i went for the football because it's fucking tedious stuff, i go to have a good day out with mates and to back the team till i can no longer speak. The last three games against Sunderland, Palace and Blackpool have been mind numbing affairs but i've had a quality time because the sections in L8 and L7 have been bouncing, if there is one positive to take from the game against Blackpool is that we had a section of fans who sang for 90 minutes solid, if we were to replicate that on a bigger scale, even involving 1/5 of the Holte then Villa Park would be an intimidating place for visiting teams to come and might make some small difference to the confidence and mentality of the team.

I think that most of us go to the game wanting to get involved, to get behind the team and support them but they don't half make it hard. There are plenty of tales of old managers on a visit to a certain ground saying to their players 'lets keep this crowd quiet for the first half an hour and they might then turn on their own team', its almost like PL says the same thing at frigging home games.

I agree that it's depressing stuff on the pitch and if you focus on it it's hardly going to inspire you to get behind the team, i actually think there's more inspiration to be had from the fans standing around you than on the pitch. Now if all the fans around you are mutes who wait for the boos to start to make a squeek then obviously that isn't going to help much either. However if you're surrounded by 15 - 20+ people who are going to sing all game then that too becomes infectious and that's the only thing for me that gives me any enjoyment at the Villa at present.

I've every respect for the lads who make up whats left of the atmosphere but I've done my singing over the years and now I want to be entertained by the football, I'd stay in the pub if I just wanted a chat and a sing song, although if it wasn't for the pre and post match entertainment I'd knock it on the head completely.
