All of the above is true, but I'm not sure it is fair to expect Stan to censor his punditry based on his own playing career.
He played for us the season we had that light blue and white away kit.One match we played and they showed the team coming off at half time. All the kits were muddy apart from one clean as a whistle- Stanley Victor's of course.Just never happened here for us, maybe an early goal or two and it could've been a different story. Am I right in that he didn't score for us until December? We also bizarrely started playing Yorke in midfield to accomodate him and Savo which was a bad error.Still I like him on the radio. He scored in our fourth game I think, a defeat at Spurs, his first home goal was against Coventry just before Xmas. He got a double on Boxing Day, scored against the Baggies in the Cup then got two vs Liverpool. Ironically I think his best performances were the following season when he supported Merson and Dublin up front. Once sent off against Liverpool though we never really saw him again. A million a goal I think.
Collymore, Curcic, Milosevic and Bosnich in the same dressing room. That was always going to end well.
