That's not the inference that I took.

Of all the things to beat Lambert up over, and there are a few, surely this is the most ridiculous?  What next, wearing the wrong socks?

That's certainly what made the comments a bit 'Steve McClaren-esque' in my eyes.  As others have said, what made the whole thing even more bizarre is that he didn't then follow it up by actually signing one. Unless he genuinely thought that Joe Cole was said player.

Paulie, Tom, Monty and others sounds like a seventies BBC1 cartoon. Monty could be the cat as Tom the cat is too much like Tom and Jerry. Tom could be a wise owl and Paulie could be a Pterodactyl. Fair more exciting for the kids than something like a pig.

Interesting to see what happens with Lowton and Bacuna in Jan. Both add depth to the squad, but I'm not sure either are good enough to keep Hutton out of the side.

I don't really see anything happening with them. We need them to add depth to the squad, and both will be earning comfortably more than they have at any other club while not breaking the bank for us to pay their wages. So I can't see them being particularly unhappy.

As we're seeing this weekend, Hutton's not averse to having the odd suspension either so I'm sure they'll both get time to play.

I think it all started to go wrong when he shifted from tracksuits to M&S jumpers
