I haven't seen Southampton at all yet this season bar the odd highlights. Are they playing in any particularly different manner than last season?

They seem to have a little more cutting edge I suppose. Pelle has an occasional touch of class that Lambert didn't, though does a similar job otherwise. Their defence actually looks better without Lovren, who has struggled at Liverpool somewhat.

Is their main method of attack to pull people as wide as possible and look for full backs to drive into the space created, with lots of balls going into the box or has Koeman mixed it up?

I've not seen too much of them but it looks like there is a mix. Their fullbacks definitely play a key role though. Bertrand looks very confident now and Clyne of course has now broken into Englands starting 11.

If we get a result we'll have done very well because they know how to score and they don't concede many at all. Best defence in the league by a distance.

They've only played two top half sides though and lost them both, but it will be interesting to see how Lambert sets us up.

A much needed 2-1 win. Peter Broadbent and Lionel Martin in front of a huge crowd.

Little Davy Rudge will tear them apart down the right wing.

Dave Rudge tears past Mcgraths violent lunge along the Trinity touchline and crosses at speed in front of the Holte. 59,000 hearts in their mouths. Brian Godfrey dummies and Lionel Martin arrives to sweep it in. The Holte errupts, and by god it did erupt. A 2-1 victory. The Doc's finest Cup victory.

I see what you're saying, and it should be a good argument for us winning, but, unfortunately, it ain't.

Seeing as the usual wank formation and tactics will see us getting owned how about this:

            Guzan
Cissokho Clark Okore Hutton
      Sanchez  Lowton (Herd/Richardson)
Grealish Westwood  Agbonlahor
             Bent (Weimann)

Potential alternatives in brackets. I really would like to see Darren Bent given a start

If we can keep the margin below 4 goals it will be a moral victory.

Are they really that good that people think we may get beat 4, 5 or 6 by them?

That's the sort of line up we reserve for cup games against division 1 or 2 teams, and still lose
