From the TV coverage  we got over here  the Club and Fans did a great job. It was very moving and as
I was watching it feeling very proud of my club for the way that they paid their respects.
At least when we do something like this Aston Villa do it right.

Well done to all concerned.
Agreed.

Similar things happened last week. It's downright daft to be holding Remembrance silences on November 1st.
You could have heard a pin drop in Villa Park. The silence was impeccably observed. It was the Club's last chance to do this before 11th November and most people in the ground applauded those taking part as they left the pitch area.
That's all well and good but it's a modern development that has no historical background.
Some of us like to pay our respects.
Its also noted that this year is specifically poignant with 100 years anniversary. I heard Villa gave some people -those involved with armed forces free admission as part of premier league initative and own clubs support. Similarly all premier league clubs this weekend are giving tickets for troops. I understand both sides of this discussion .
There's nothing to suggest anyone even remotely disagrees with free tickets for soldiers, not even a suggestion of it.

That's a totally different thing, people are talking specifically about the silence / ceremony so far off the actual date.

The fact Dennis has got his knickers in a twist and equated suggesting that "why do it on a date which isn't even remembrance sunday" with "I don't respect our troops" is not only a half-baked, misinterpreted bit of self righteous nonsense, but also a bit depressing.

What kind of person suggests people don't like to pay their respects for daring to argue the above?

What does Dennis know about any of us, what losses our families have been through while serving their country? I'll answer that. Nothing. Which makes it a bit depressing to see him mounting his high horse.

What we do know is that you are totally obnoxious.

I agree and I am approximately there 15 mins before kick off.

just to defend some of the fans that came that day, it is a nightmare to get into West Ham, there was no announcement about the minutes silence and their Stewards hardly said a word about it.

I hope the people who are really upset about this don't just pay their respects to our fallen heroes on Nov 11th. That you do it in different ways throughout the year. It's all a bit like Christmas Mass otherwise when you've never had any desire to go to church the other 364 days. Football doesn't have an obligation to this. We do, as individuals, and having this so far in advance is a bit silly really.

How strange that yet another person shares this view.

Am I not entitled my own view? That's kind of how it works on here.

Do those of you in some sort of clique contact each other to decide which posts to agree or disagree on? I am told you have a secret forum where you slag off other posters. If that is true, it is very distasteful.

I could tell you, but I'd have to kill you afterwards ;-)

It's a bit rich for you to be accusing others of distasteful forum etiquette, considering you were temporarily banned for racist posts on another forum, were you not?

I don't mind the commemoration being so far from Remembrance Day. Seems quite natural to me that the club should want to mark the occasion with everyone together as an institution, and Sunday was the closest date possible. Sure, everyone can and will pay their respects in their own way on the day itself, but this was the club's opportunity to honour some local veterans in front of a big crowd. I think that's fair enough.

Does this mean I have to start a club with Dennis?

Not at all, it means that you are entitled to your opinion. You aren't calling people out as being part of some conspiracy just because they take a different view.

Is it really a problem with the Villa holding a minute's silence when they did?

Or should we not do it at all and risk the Birmingham Post 'Villa snub Remembrance Day Heroes' headlines.

You can just see the Sunday Mercury now "Nazi-Lover Villa's Remembrance Day of Shame."

Dennis, if you're reading this...it's lies, Dennis, don't believe them, for god's sake! They're going to mock us mercilessly for our independence of mind, then banish us from their conformist cult - to VT or some other living hell on earth. I've seen it too many times before. The pages of H&V are strewn with the redolent death wails of dissidents...we're next, mark my words! Save yourself man, while you still can! FLEE THE PERSECUTION!!!
