Gut wrenching defeats.
« on: November 02, 2014, 06:56:21 PM »
Well today the feeling of sick in the pit of my stomach has returned after a defeat. It was that sort of game.

The previous defeats we've had I've just shrugged off as for example Everton are just a better team than we are so you just accept those defeats in a 38 game season, I don't see the point in getting pissed off at those sort of games anymore. QPR we were just inept for the most part.

This one though was different. The way we lost, the team we lost to (who were total shite), the decisions, the overall malaise we continue to be in season in season out.

What other defeats have made you close to being physically sick afterwards?

2010 cup final was an obvious one. Another one that sticks in my mind was ironically against Spurs, another 2-1 home defeat in March 2009, I knew straight after that game we wouldn't be finishing top 4 that season. Different times though and what I'd give for that now.

Man Utd 2-3 cup defeat when that horse faced twat came on and ran riot. Went straight home and started a family row, didn't speak to my sister for 2 months.

Although not a defeat, the Stoke 2-2 still sticks in the memory.

Yeah that was another one you could write a horror book with all the various calamities we've had against Man. United in the last 15 years.

And the 2-3 from a couple of seasons ago.

EDIT: You're on about Small Heath aren't you? I thought you meant Newton.

I was indeed on about the small variety of Heath.

2 - 2 v blose on 04 after their late equaliser. Felt like a defeat.

Like you went home and had a blazing row with the wife. WE had to go out for a prearranged meal that evening and ended up travelling separately

Rapid Vienna (twice) and Trabzonspor really really pissed me off at the time.

The 4-4 against Leicester under Sir Brian, and the 4-4 against Spuds under that cockweasel O'Neill as well.

The Macheda game at Old Trafford was a sickener.

Yep, one of the worst.

As was the aforementioned Stoke 2-2.   The moment our future went from 'bright' to 'shit'.

This today has really got me down. It's the first game in a long time I've actually felt this annoyed with the outcome. I'd say the last one was throwing away that lead against Stoke.

20 years ago next week, November 9 1994, 3-1 up away at Wimbledon in the last quarter and lost 3-4. BFR sacked the next day. I was at Selhurst Park to collect my wrenched gut.
