Cheers PWS. I think I listened to it on BRMB with George Gavin commentating. In the days when Central would show the goals the next night. Great shot of Tony Barton having a bad hair day. Wasn't their keeper the Russian goalie? Rinat Deasev or something like that? Even if I'm right I doubt if I have spelt it right.

We talk about Juventus and Cruyff's Barcelona, but at Villa Park that Spartak team were as good as either of them.

I've often said the best 2 away teams i've seen at VP were Juventus and Spartak.

I was once told that the reason Russian teams didn't do well in European competitions was that when the quarter finals came round their domestic season was just starting again, but they were at their peak in the early rounds when their season was two-thirds through. Looking at how poor Dynamo Kiev were in 1982, it's a good shout.

Deportivo weren't bad in the early 90's, we got a great result in Spain and then couldn't get a sniff of the ball at home.

I always forget out of Celta and Deportivo which had the bugle player on the tannoy. and the back third of The Holte roped off and closed.

The best teams I saw at Villa Park were Juventus followed by Spartak. Also the Liverpool teams of the early to mid eighties. I was too young to see Cruyff's Barcelona but the Barcelona team I did see were memorable for different reasons.

I have the green red and black one but the limited edition league cup final version . Collectors item

I have that with Richardson on the back, think my home one from that year had the word yoghurt on underneath Muller, could also be collectable.

If you've got the 'Muller Yogurt' one, it definitely is collectible. They were only used in televised games, and, to my knowledge, not released as replicas.

I've got this beauty:

Squad signed, match worn - as identifiable through the embroidered badge and stitched on numbers - and complete with the aforementioned 'Muller Yogurt' logo.

The pride and joy of my collection

Chuffing 'eck, have the club's commercial department decided to dump-out dodgy away shirts from the past all in one go? They're also selling this:

A classic is back! The Aston Villa Retro Away Shirt from season 83-84 is one of the more fashionable and stylish jerseys worn by the team. The 1983-84 season saw a solid Villa team defeat local rivals West Brom and Wolves at home in First Division and also take on Spartak Moscow and Portuguese side Vitória de Guimarães in the UEFA Cup.
I get the retro shirt thing, I like them by and large and have bought a few. What I don't get though, is if the manufacturer is still in business, like Le Coq, for example, why don't they get them to re-make the shirts replete with the logos and in the same materials? Those le-coq kits were classics and I'm sure they would sell more if they were true replicas.

I think Adidas have been flogging that grey Liverpool shirt with the crown paints sponsor recently (here in aus anyway ) whilst not a classic shirt, it looks the business because it's an 'original'
