Don't celebrate good times, come on! (Let's not celebrate)
« on: September 21, 2014, 05:57:15 PM »
When did this not celebrating against your old club nonsense start ?

I'd love to see a player score against his old club and then do a wild over the top celebration in front of the opposition dug out

(Thread could be moved to 'Other Football' in a while)

Lampard scores against Chelsea and looks embarrassed about it.

It's bollox and disrespectful to your new fans. FFS celebrate with the fans without any restraint.

It started with Dennis Law scoring for Man City against Man Utd therefore relegating them.

Platt did it years ago when he scored for Arsenal. I think if you have a long career with someone it shows a touch of class not to celebrate.

He didn't relegate them, and he wasn't called Dennis.

To be honest I don't mind players not celebrating. We'd all have laughed if Lampard had given it loads after scoring against Millwall-with-cash but, realistically, he was never likely to.

I found that I gained a bit more respect for Solano when he decided not to celebrate against us.

That's my view as well. Its an insult to your new team to make it clear to them that your old team is still more important to you.

Deano Saunders certainly enjoyed all 3 goals against Liverpool in 92-93 as did Collymore vs the Bin Dippers 3-4 seasons later but both for different reasons I feel.

So many players not doing it and it's really took off over the last five years or so, it's almost become a celebration in itself.

It's all for the cameras really.

And he didn't kick Alan Deakin in the face when he was on the ground. Have I got that wrong as well?
