From what I heard of Rodgers response to questions about the Senderos and Balotelli stuff he was far more impressive than Wenger or Mourinho would have been. Basically it is a man's game so you have to man up. Wenger would have seen everything for a change and Mourinho would have been bringing it up in a year's time even if one of his players had decapitated one of ours in the meantime.

He was very close to the Hutton tackle and didn't even bat an eyelid. 

Noticed this too...showed no concern at all!

Nothing in football is as amusing as Liverpool supporters who believe the media and authorities have it in for them. They don't just say it - they truly believe it.

The whole psyche of that city is one of being a victim. Stems back decades.

With good reason very often, and it's not their proper supporters who are the worst culprits in this case. Which leads me onto something else I've often wondered. Why do we call Manchester United supporters Cockneys/from Surrey and the rest of it, and Liverpool Scousers when they have more out of towners than anyone?

Stopped at Stafford Services on the way up so my mate's disabled daughter could have her quota of calories - there seemed to be hundreds of 'em - every other customer was wearing a Liverpool shirt, several with "Suarez" emblazoned across the back... nostalgia 'n' that...aaaahhhh....the disdain in their looks at us had to be experienced - a sort of smug tolerance of the lowly Midlanders. Where the f**k were they all coming from? And where were the ba**ards on the way back?

My guess would be that the Man U era of dominance coincided with a period of high attendances throughout the PL, so it was a easy 'win' to piss off a Man U fan, "you're a glory hunter who can't even be bothered to turn up."  The Liverpool era coincided with lower attendances (crowd violence?) so actually attending was less of a badge of honour. 

I wasn't old enough to go during the 80's but had season tickets through the second half of the nineties and that alone was justification to dismiss the opinion of most Man U fans I met.

It's as bad now. Standing on my corner I saw more out of towners at Liverpool than Manchester United games.

Yes, I think there were more day-trippers at Anfield than I've ever seen at Old Trafford.

Didn't think that much of the ground, grey and plasticky from the outside. The memorial for Hillsborough was nice though. I also thought it seemed quite small inside, hard to imagine that it has a higher capacity than Villa Park, although the corners are filled in.

The Kop was very quiet
