The only thing worth listening to on Talkshite for me is the Warm Up on a Saturday morning with Johnny Vaughan, as it's really old school football chat. They have this feature where they ring up a footballer from times gone by and ask him all sorts of questions about the best player he played with, funniest footballer etc. The player concerned then has to nominate a team mate from times gone by to be on the show the next week. That way, it often stays within the same club for a few weeks in a row. It's often very funny, particularly as those chosen are some of the lesser lights such as Micky Gynn at Coventry etc. Last week it was Graham Stuart and he has nominated none other than Dean Saunders for this coming week, so it may stick with old Villa players for a few weeks!

Not a fan of Vaughan's presenting style, prefer the Danny Baker show on the same time on 5 live.

A little past his sell by date in my view but used to be excellent, particularly on the original 606.

Not sure it belongs in this thread or indeed anywhere but I saw Gary Newbon Friday in one of my favourite local curry houses .

Where was that? Somebody told me years ago that he lives in St. Bernards Road, Solihull. I was also told at various times by various people that both Tommy Sorensen and Maik Taylor both live in that same road. My wife always reckons she heard somewhere that Linda Lusardi lives on that road too, although I have never believed that one as I don't think she has any Midlands connections.
I believe Sorenson lived in Clairveaux Gardens (a small estate of very large new houses off St. Bernards Road).. Alan Hutton rented a house on Widney Manor Road… not sure if he's still there

I think Hutton is still there, its owned by the family of a friend of my lads.
Its what you would describe as a typical footballers house
Sorenson has/is selling the house in Clairveaux.
Was told Newbon has sold up from St Bernards and moved
My mom used to go to coffee mornings held by Mrs Newbon until she started charging for the coffee and cakes!!!

Newbon was a member of Robin Hood GC while I was there although in the 10 odd years I never once saw him. He must have been local but his address was never given in the membership book.

Sorensen was living in a place off St Bernards which was a sub division of 3 houses backing onto the golf course.

And he has nominated Alan McInally to be on next week's show. Some nice Villa chat from Deano, particularly about Dalian Atkinson

Johnny Vaughan's mid-Atlantic accent grates, especially when he refers to everyone as "guys".

Rambo left three years before Deano arrived. And although Deano moved around a bit he never played for Ayr, Celtic, Bayern or Scotland.

To be honest, he's always seemed to me to be one of these people who purported to like football back in the 90's as it was deemed the "cool" thing to do, but doesn't really have a clue what he's talking about.  Adrian Chiles is another example.

He may seem that way but that is totally wide of the mark regarding Vaughan. The complete opposite is true in fact

I had the misfortune last week of tuning in whilst Colin Murray was presenting, I almost deliberately crashed the car.

I think Vaughn and Murray are currently the best things on that station. I used to like Adrian Durham, but he's saddled with a drivetime show that promotes artificial controversies and features that droning ape, Darren Gough.

Adrian Durham would be ok if he wasn't so obsessed with Arsenal.
