Tremendous first half performance with control and power resulting in two fine goals. This match should have been 4-0 so  2-1 is very flattering for Hull.  They changed it a bit in the second  but we did very well to see out their expected fight back in the first 15/20 minutes after the break. Strangely  the sub I was screaming for did  not work in our favour.  Today I thought Sanchez did not quite fit in  and whilst N'Zogbia was his usual self Hull midfielders operated better when he was off. It affected our balance.  Huddleston going off also helped them along with a totally unnecessary foul by Carlos. Having said that we  played out the last 15 minutes very well and if only Bent knew  how to score these days we would have restored some realism into the scoreline.

Just got in. Delighted with the 3 points. Glad we have 7 points on the board before this run of tough games.
And we are THIRD!

Nose bleed territory.

Clattenberg should have gone up to the Hull captain after the second foul on Grealish and warned him the next intentional foul on Grealish would be a red. Pathetic really that PL players resorted to that against a kid

Shocking behaviour and blatant. I hope they are reported to the FA. Not that that would make any difference.

Pretty much exactly my thoughts too. If Westwood's free kick had gone in Hull would have gone into damage limitation mode and the scoreline would have been more reflective of the game. Excellent first half. Second half inevitably a bit of an anti climax as the onus was all on Hull to do something. On today's evidence Hull will be there or thereabouts in the relegation mix.

2 games already this season we have professionally seen out a slender lead to take the 3 points. Credit where it's due because we have been dreadful at this for ages.

I will go with what has been said by everybody about the first half.  I thought the second half we sat back and fell into the old ways of trying to play the game standing still with long passes/long punts up the pitch.  In the first half there was great movement and the passing was a lot shorter as players were finding space.  Also in the first half balls were put in front of the fullbacks.  Second half passes went behind them and they had to turn or in most cases passing the ball back.  My biggest frustration is seeing Villa keeping possession and working the ball up to the half way line in the centre of the pitch and then playing a 25 yard pass back which then usually ends with a big boot forward or even more frustratingly back to Guzan.

Sanchez seems to have come in for a bit of stick but it is not easy to come on when the other team has all of the possession and suddenly change it.  What I did see was him trying to get Villa play further up the pitch by pointing to which players needed closing down and positioning himself half way between the halfway line and the penalty area rather than on the edge of the area and trying to get Delph and Westwood to play in front of him more.  As others have said it was a needless free-kick to give away but that tends to be very common in South America.  As I said, difficult to get into a game quickly for a player that plays his position and I think Lambert should have brought him on earlier as it was clear that Hull were dominating possession from the start of the 2nd half.

All in all, cannot complain with another win and a steady start to the season.

Tom Ince did nothing to justify all the publicity he gets. Most overrated player since Wilshire.

it's no surprise after all of the bluster he ended up at Hull. And in fact watching him today even Hull might be above him. He's a good player and could be a lot better but led down the wrong path by his dad.

He looked really promising in his days at Blackpool. His dad has a lot to answer for. Trying to keep his own name in the papers rather than let his son make his own decisions.

If his name was Tom Smith he'd be playing in the lower reaches of The Championship or in League One

What had Grealish done to them? 4 or 5 different Hull players really went for him causing bad fouls that could've done him some serious damage. No need for it.
