Excellent first half, two well worked goals, good passing in midfield and just a calm sense about us even if Hull were toss.

Yeah second half was a wee bit more tricky but good to see it off and get the win with the fixtures we have coming up.

Sanchez looks a bit off the pace to me, probably wise not to start him today. Thought Weimann was excellent and should've got MOTM ahead of Gabby.

And what the hell was the Hull defenders beef with Grealish. Just because he dosen't pull his socks up? Ridiculous challenges on him!

As I said in the pre-match thread:

2-1 I reckon.  A goal in each half for us, then an 85th minute reply for them to take a few more years off me.

Slightly off on the timings, but other than that pretty spot on!  Including the nervousness at the end.

It wouldn't have been right if we had cruised to victory. I'm just glad the back line contained competent defenders to see us home.

Shame we couldn't keep that clean sheet. Would've been quite cool to be the only prem club not to concede a goal and slightly amusing after all the chaos of the last few seasons.

Just shows the value of experience in some areas. The 4 we have aren't the best players we've ever had in those positions but collectively as a unit they seem to have clicked. Although I worry a bit about teams with a bit more pace upfront against us.

Suppose next few fixtures will be a pretty good test.

Very enjoyable first half and 3-0 wouldn't have flattered us at the break. Hull changing to four at the back improved them but they didn't create clear cut chances and their goal was fortunate, thought Sanchez challenge leading to the free kick was poorly judged. Young jack showed he has quick feet, like watching a match from yesteryear the way they kept hacking him down.
Very pleasing points tally and nice to see decent options on the bench but it's early days as we all know. Not surprised about the attendance, a lot of seriously pissed off fans out there who have voted with their feet. A surprise win or two against the big boys and hopefully crowds will improve.

The players in our defence aren't amazing but they are all premier league quality. We've often fielded a back four where one or sometimes none are premier league quality, defensively at least

Why is it shocking? There has been very little football or entertainment at Villa Park for over 4 years now. If the club are pretty much settling for surviving for the foreseeable future what is there for non die hards to buy in to?

Normally on the piss at this point, but yes great result, there was me slagging gabby and andi off before the match to my mates, seems to have done the trick.

BUT that fuckin clatenburg he is the biggest ****** going. gave no protection to a young player from the synical over the top challenges provided by there number 2 then number 18 did get booked but showed himself to know fuck all about the game. and injury time 5 minutes, Well ill ask you have you ever seen a referee, ball gone out throw in to hull, referee runs to the ball and throws it to the hull player. he is dodgy as fuck.

Our home form has been woeful for seasons so it's no surprise we've lost some fans. If we can simply win more home games then fans will trickle I'm sure as you always attract more with winning football.

Very happy with the win and some decent performances. Most impressed with the approach first half - bags of energy and meant we created chances because we forced mistakes - most goals come from a turnover in possession when the ball is moved quickly.

The other thing for me - even before any other additions before the transfer window closes - if they are all fit then I can't see N'Zog, Bent or Cole in the matchday squad. Probably also true of Clark, Lowton and maybe Baker. UTV
