I don't think the Bradford , millwall and Sheff Utd games have helped our perception with some of the lower league minnows . They see us as a soft touch I suspect. Let tomorrow night begin to end this myth.

I take the point re losing to lower leagues teams, but it strikes me as unfair to look at that Bradford loss, and ignore the fact that, in that same cup run, we won 4-2 away to Man City and 4-1 away to Norwich.

Don't disagree but non villa fans won't remember that.

Was that against someone like Grimsby in BFRs first season ?

Over two legs, on away goals. We should have scored ten at Villa Park; it was one of those nights.

In 54 seasons of the LC we've gone out in the 2nd round 7 times. 5 of those were 40+ years ago. Notts Co and Grimsby are the only ones to put us out this early since 1974.

Did we lose to Forest around 78/79 0-4 at a very early stage ?

We lost 4-2 away in 77/78 in the 4th round. We also lost 4-1 at Everton in the FAC 3rd round that season.

It was my 21st birthday on the day of the second leg, and one of my housemates was a Grimsby fan. Nice one Villa!

You think that was unlucky? My mate Greg lived in Walsall and was doing the 92. Guess where he was driving back from when the draw was made?

I was at that Grimsby game. I remember sitting in the north stand having to listen to some grumpy old ****** (I don't use the term lightly) callin Dwight yorke a "nigger" all game.

It's not a rarity on cup nights.
