I mentioned this in the week but i thought their number 22 Janmaat was bloody awful against Man City so if we can get someone running at him (i think he was playing right back) then that might be something to exploit.
It might just be that he finds playing against Silva and Jovetic harder than playing against N'Zogbia and Weimann.

Which is why Clampy said it "might" be something we can exploit.

I just looked at the online ticket selector and I'll be amazed if it is that high. I think it could be under 30k.

I think there will be a decent walk up crowd. First game of the season and all that. Despite all of the hideous home games last season we never went under 30k for a league game. The lowest being Stoke and Norwich at just over and neither have the following Newcastle have. I reckon mid 30k is about right.

Take a look at the availability on the OS, it would take a truly enormous walk up crowd to reach mid 30 thousands.

It will be over 30K. Unless the Jawdees only bring 200.

Geordies have sold out their 2900 allocation.

Woeful home support it has to be said, as despite this we will be lucky to get much over 30k.

On to the game, I think we will lose 2-1, we need to find a way of shaking off our wretched Villa Park form but I can't see enough creativity/nous in the side as of yet.

If it is under 30k it would be hugely disappointing. I might understand it after 3 defeats on the back of last season. But not the opening game after winning last week. Even with an early kick off.

Brother's wedding in '99 - Newcastle away, won.
Cousin's wedding in '05 - Newcastle at home, won.
My wedding in '11 - Newcastle at home, won.

I need someone in my family to get married on Saturday.

I love bizarre coincidences like that. last weekend I flew home from Nigeria and only got the score whilst in the taxi home. The last time that happened was christmas when I flew home and only got the Villa score in the taxi. The team we played then? Stoke. We lost that one though.

Going today for the first time in ages- hope some of these attendance predictions turn out to be a tad pessimistic! First home game under O' Neill was newcastle if memory serves, crowd of only about 35-36,000, cue sarcastlic whistling from the geordies upon announcement....

Anway, we won 2-0 that day, will take the same again. Goals could come from anywhere tbh, Gabby and Vlaar though I will go for.

Good luck today to one and all who are going to game. I have opted to go to finals day at Edgbaston today.

2-0 Don't care who gets 'em....and the Bears to win to make a great double.

Really looking forward to it now, think we might have to be patient while the new players bed in but I am quite optimistic for a much improved season.

Think the crowd will be down too. For example I know 3 regulars who are on holiday and 1 who is at the cricket.
