Villa will give four first team stars a run-out in tonight's Barclays U21 Premier League clash against Wolves.

Shay Given starts in goal, while Leandro Bacuna, Jack Grealish and Darren Bent are also in action at Burton Albion's Pirelli Stadium [kick-off 7pm].

Gordon Cowans' team are looking to bounce back after a 4-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns in their last outing.

Wolves sit second from bottom - two places below ninth placed Villa - and also suffered a defeat last time out against Derby.

Entry for tonight's game is free for season ticket holders, £3 for adults and £1 for concessions.

Villa U21 2-1 Wolves U21 - GOAL - 66mins: Unselfish play from Darren Bent to tee up Jerell Sellars for Villa's second goal. Bent got in behind the defence yet again and after being denied by Jonathan Flatt he squared to Sellars who fired into the roof of the net.

As ever at this level, we don't know how strong the teams were. We've probably got a dozen players out on loan who could have been in this side in previous years.

That's true, but they've still had done well at this level and the ones who have good loan periods tend to be those who do better in the long run. Lambert has said that in the past we've spent too much time concentrating on winning the reserve leagues and not enough on bringing players through. For all his faults at least he's trying to do this right; ultimately, wherever we finish in whatever the Central League is called now isn't anywhere near as important as getting even one extra player into the first team.

Agree with that but I was hoping Lambert would come in with a philosophy to apply throughout the club. Looks like he has succeeded based on the number of goals all of our teams seem to concede...
