If they'd do an Aston Social type membership card, I'd consider it.  But at those, prices I'll stick to The Social.

Is The Social still open? I thought for some reason that had closed as well.

The Social isn't closing.

Oh, I thought the Social was being knocked down!

On the few occasions I have a drink before the game I always go to either the Bartons or Sacred Heart. Sod paying £3 to go in a pub.

Sacred Heart for us too. I can understand the Tavern charging a fee as it's close to the ground, but at £3 and pricey beer, it's not for me. In any case, I doubt very much that they'll struggle for custom on a match day, especially as The Edward and Aston Hotel have gone. The Witton Arms and even The Yew Tree charges for admission these days.

They've spent a few quid on the place and it's nice to see it open again:

Aston Tavern Refurb

I hope it does well.

Very nice.  I know its £3 a go, but does anyone know if they're doing membership?

Edit - Just read they're charging £3.75 a pint for Carling...that'll keep the numbers down for sure

Does the Sacred Heart have live music on?

I remember a friend talking about going somewhere before/after games that had live music, but couldn't remember the pub name

Think it could have been there

It does a lot of functions etc, they may have something on a Saturday evening for the locals but most there just because of the Villa will have left by then unless it's a late KO time like the Citeh game.

The Villa Tavern sometimes have a disco in the backroom on a Saturday night. Bring your whistle and glow sticks.

Ok its expensive to get in and the beer is too  but credit to them.
They have done a great job and it was a great place to have a beer in while the traffic dies down..

That's the point. They're doing something a bit different in the area and they've only got twenty or so days a year to recoup their investment. You can pay three quid to go somewhere decent or nothing to go into one that's rundown. The choice is yours.
