One fellow reckoned that RS resigned because he had become aware of Bendall's intention of selling out to Ellis. Rather than wait to be sacked, he quit. Not sure I'm convinced by this -how easy would it be to sack arguably the most successful manager in the club's history, a man who was adored by a high percentage of the support?

The other issue was the Gladiator. This chap maintained that Helenius threw a strop at Weimann in last season's Malaga friendly because of the latter's laziness on the pitch. When MH was later withdrawn, he was seen to have an argument with PL -the implication was that this dispute had not been resolved so  PL was reluctant to select MH. I didn't attend this match so can't comment on the accuracy of this story.

That Saunders story is nonsense. He left in February, no-one knew Ellis was coming back until it was announced in December.

I well remember RS quoted as saying they want a teaboy not a manager.

I hope nobody uses the doors at the end of the upper floors.

They're for ejecting away fans.

Another Aston boozer that may be of interest to H&Vers:

It's good to see another eyesore around Villa Park given a new lease of life. I won't be able to support this establishment but I do hope enough people do on match days and non match days.
It's good to see Michelle Monaghan doing even more for the drinking man!

Feel I've gone full circle, a pub as a boy with grandad, years of dereliction, a new pub to take my son to.

Very nice. Looking forward to going in there. Though I'm not sure about the doors at the side of the building.

Looks very nice doesn't it? Shame about the expressway right next to it. Just can't see it being financially viable though, unfortunately. Isn't the holte pub now running at a loss to the club. I don't see where the local market is to sustain both pubs. Sad as they both deserve to be chockers every night. Maybe the new development of the industrial park nearby might help?
