Most memorable Holte End celebration?
« on: July 13, 2014, 11:35:37 PM »
I was just remembering Paul Birch's goal against Coventry in '87 - I was only eight and me and my cousin had just decided to venture up to the top of the Holte for the first time ever when he scored and we got swept all the way back down again as the fans went nuts. It's always been the most memorable Holte End moment for me, even above Tranmere, Inter Milan x2, etc. May well be covered elsewhere, but just wondered what other people's most memorable Holte celebration was?

Bournemouth 1972 and West Brom 1975, all goals scored at the Holte End, both victories after going a goal down.

Being in the Holte End I would say Tranmere, but watching the Holte from the Trinity when Cowans scored against Juventus is my favourite. It was a frighteningly awesome sight.

Peter Withe's last-minute goal against the Baggies when we won the league in 1980-81. The game looked destined for a draw, then Brendan Batson, the Albion defender, passed it back to his Goalkeeper Tony Godden and Withey nipped in to lob it over him - the Holte went mental even though the goal was at the opposite end! Such an important goal in the title race.......

Gary Shaw vs Barca - 1983.  It seemed we would never score and the place absolutely erupted when Shaw eventually netted.  It makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck when I think about it.

Tranmere for me. Amazing stuff.

If I remember correctly the Holte was closed for Inter (x2) as it was during the reconstruction phase. I'm pretty sure that was why I was behind the goal at the bottom of the North Stand that night.

The Liverpool game on the last day was pretty special as well. Especially when Yorke's goal went in.

Same for me but, it was Pat McMahon that got the winner.  I lost me trousers.
