Looking at the table, the thing working most against Newcastle is that, if Hull win, then they have to win as well, because of that goal difference. I could see them maybe scraping a draw, but one point in 30 tells its own story. Three points is probably beyond them.

Sadly, I think the most Hull will get is a draw and I suspect that Newcastle will just sneak past West Ham, even given Big Sam's desire for revenge. The media will be all over the Geordies at the weekend without giving Hull or Sunderland a second thought. They are, lest we forget, our third favourite team after Villa and Liverpool judging by the amount of attention both they and the scousers get

I reckon West Ham will thrash Newcastle but I also think it won't matter because man United will do the same to Hull

Is it safe to listen to radio 5 again as I nearly had a Rick Mayall Comedy Strip moment when Spandau Ballet's 'Gold' was stuck constantly on while I was driving back along the A14 yesterday? At one point I thought George Sephton, Liverpool's Tannoy announcer who they had in the studio was about to burst into tears.  I've never heard of such self appreciating bollocks in all my life.

Wasn't that awful, I caught some of it on the way out to lunch with friends. The statement that perhaps Liverpool, in their view, is the most sentimental city in the United Kingdom is a contender for understatement of the century. I felt quite sick listening to it, I wonder if the media know what effect it has on fans of other clubs when they pedal this sort of stuff?

When he said "Liverpool aren't A football club, they are THE football club" I put my foot though the radio and sent Cilla Black the bill

Every year there seems to be a load of them travel up to Shankly's place of birth and have some sort of ceremony and commemoration, it's slightly bizarre and mawkish.

Out of interest, does anyone know when Stephen Gerrards last home game is?  There appears to have been a media blackout, or else they seem to have forgotten to mention it.

It has been airbrushed from history, the same as our away game at Southampton which did not happen at the weekend either.

Sometime in March 2016 when the new MLS season starts?

I didn't really pay any attention whatsoever to the Steven fucking Gerrard love in at the weekend.

Suffice to say I was rather chipper when I found out that not only had Villa pissed all over his chips at Wembley a few weeks ago but Palace managed to drop a massive turd on them on Saturday evening as well.   Bravo to the cheeky south Londoners.  Hurrah.

I wasn't intending to watch but it was on in the pub. Massive immature sod that I am, I couldn't resist shouting "their not yours Stevie" when he was on the pitch with Alex Curran's daughters.

My girlfriend just gave me that look that says "shut it now" and I started behaving myself again.

Aren't any of those kids Gerrard's?  Or are we entering libel city here?
