I am wondering why everyone thinks so and so is going to do us any favours.  It is Aston Villa.  As everyone in their heart of hearts knows full well that this is going to the last few minutes of the Burnley game at home.
It hasn't for any of the previous seasons when we were apparently nailed on to go down at a similar point in the season.

That was Aston Villa as well.

Dave this feels different I think everyone acknowledges that or maybe not.

Please don't say everybody when you mean "I".

No I don't actually.  But I will paraphrase and say more than one person.  I'd say it's a fair bet it's right.  Or are am I not allowed to speculate anymore?

For what it's worth I've calmed down and think Sunderland will still go so we will be okay quite apart from us pulling off results of our own.

If there's one thing I absolutely fucking love on here it's someone who's disagreed with coming back with "Am I not allowed to..." particularly when you then contradict yourself.

Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, I come in peace.

I just wanted to clarify that was all.  If I hadn't asked, I thought you might say I was speculating - and obviously I was.

Swearing is a bit uncalled for.  Well except if slagging Liverpool off.

We are actually now relying on others to fail to win.
How?
Because technically / mathematically , even if we won our 4 if the other results all go against us, we finish 18th

How do Sunderland and Leicester both catch us when they play each other?

Because in this doom laden world (Which sometimes I take part in I admit) the winners of this game are to be awarded six points to completely f us over.

So just remind us what 'everyone acknowledges' then?

That's not speculating.

The losers still can't catch us. So if we win all 4 we stay up. Technically and mathematically.

There must be some way though surely?  SV might know.

Not really. As even a cursory glance at every thread on here shows. Or even just reading the half dozen posts before the one where you decided that we all think we're going down this season.

As dodgy as things look and they absolutely do, having 3 of our remaining 4 games at home should be enough to see us home. We are going to attack like crazy and simply try and outscore our opponents. And thank fuck for Sunderland being as gash as they are. Leicester surely can't keep winning, and even Hull will stumble. And bear in mind even if we got a massive point at the weekend we'd still be in the same position tonight albeit with an extra point.

It's a 4 game season now. If we look after our business teams below us cannot catch us. Very little margin for error.

Yes, but our home form is abysmal

PWS correct , didn't factor in they play each other. I've not had the best day at work if I'm honest, coupled with tonight's result and still pissed off about the injustice of Saturday at the etihad. Layer on 4 years of this shite and it's affecting my optimism levels. Let's just win Saturday and next week and get this season put to bed.

Bortmund beat Bayern 2 - 0 on penalties in the German Cup

Bayern miss all 4 of theirs............
That's the thing about Germans. Rubbish at penalty shoot-outs.

The post match thread after Man City was quite calm following a defeat, acknowledging that we continue to perform well and look likely to pick up points.

Today, because another team has won, against a team that barely showed up (in sympathy with their supporters), we have suddenly become shite and unlikely to pick up another point.

Here's one to cheer you up. West Ham and Burnley have together taken four points from a possible 36 in their last 6 away games each

Here's another stat to cheer you up. We've played 4,542 league games and only been relegated in four of them.
