I hope we're still saying what a terrible defender Mangela is in a couple of weeks.

"His positioning for Benteke's 4th was terrible. I bet Pellegrini gave him pelters at half-time after that one."

Isn't it a bit early to be drinking?

Talk sport reporter said the half and half scarves were selling well at the Manchester derby

Got me thinking, has Anyone ever seen such a thing as a Villa Blues half and half ?

There's a pub over Burntwood way that has a Villa Blues half and half shirt on the ceiling, quite bizarre.

I can sort of understand it if a pub has a mix of fans from both clubs as regulars but I can't get my head around an individual owning one. I nicked a bust from my local once and returned it complete with a Villa hat, scarf and little replica shirt from when my lad was very small. Fair play to the bluenose gaffer, he left them on it and painted it's nose blue.

This might explain it:

Are you sure those aren't Newton Heath/Small Heath half and half scarfs? Don't forget Carson's vision of the noses being the Far East's favourite team.

Someone I know who works a turnstile at QPR was keeping a tally of QPR/Chelsea half scarf twats on Saturday. Over 30 through his turnstile alone!

You see a depressingly large number of half and half scarf wearers down the Villa. And not just on the day trippers.

I don't get it. I thought a scarf identified allegiance. I can understand to a point buying one for a friendly against someone like Real Madrid or Barcelona to say you were there, but in a competitive setting. What message are you sending by wearing it? That you don't mind who wins. How's that work? Did the half and half Villa/QPR scarf wearers cheer all six goals?

It's possibly the worst aspect of modern football. I cannot stand it.

I have 3 half and half scarves. Only because they were a quid each in the club shop from the American tour a few years ago though. Never worn them mind, just added to my collection of Villa tat.

Yeah, I don't really see the point of them for anyone outside of the specific category of people who are attending the game as a one-off tourist attraction, as opposed to a serious hobby.

On the other hand it does help identify 'soccer fans' and 'first timers'. I don't see too much problem with a party of Chinese wearing them too as it's a souvenir, just so long as they are well away from me. If I see anybody above the age of 11 wearing one next Sunday in our area they will get a look of scorn and disgust from me.

I was very proud of my (then) 10 year old son who almost sneered at the two adults sat in front of us wearing half and half Villa/Chelsea scarves, no influence from me as I hadn't mentioned them. As he said " why would anybody do that?".

I have only bought one of those half and half scarves, when we played Ipswich in the FA Cup the other year.....it was for my mates little lad who had just had a liver transplant and is Ipswich Town mad.

He tells everyone that Villa are his 2nd team now :)

Yeah because i'm going to buy that! They are from the games in Chicago, Portland and Philly in 2012 (I think).
