Well yes, precisely as pooligan says. There is no mystery about this. We have a more expensive team than Blackburn and so our chances of beating them are better than our chances of beating Liverpool who have a more expensive team than us.If Blackburn had defied the odds and beaten Liverpool then they don't miraculously become a more expensive team, we would still have had a better chance of beating them than Liverpool. It seems pretty straightforward. Our odds of reaching the final just went down (I assume the bookies have reflected this). That doesn't mean they are zero, that doesn't mean I don't want us to get there, it is just less likely and thats a shame, thats all.
I've got no problem with the idea that Liverpool will be harder to beat that Blackburn. I do have a problem with people suggesting it's impossible. I am also pretty gobsmacked by the number of people across the Internet since last night that seem to be suggesting that we shouldn't be in this cup because we are risking our premiership status (not just in this forum) I am not sure at which point they would have been happy for us to throw it? Blackpool? Bournemouth? Albion? What would those same people have been saying if we had lost any of those games?'If there's one year we could have done with an embarrassing early cup exit to lower league opposition this was it' said no Villa fan ever.'I think it would have been better if we'd just let Albion have that one' said no Villa fan everIf we come out of Wembley next week with a final in our sights, then there won't be many whose immediate reaction will be 'Well that's us down then' - although I am starting to wonder about that one. If we lose to Liverpool, of course the words 'concentrate on the league' are ready and waiting, but I can feel how hollow they sound from here.
Do you think they'll let me in Wembley with my 'Gerrard is a C*nt' banner?

I think Wigan won at Wembley against Man City, and some other shit team upset the odds against Arsenal in an event that ushered in the dawn of the apocalypse
