I don't think the atmosphere is simply down to the band in the corner. I go to a fair few of their games and I would say that most of the ground seems to be pretty noisy and happy to sing.

I think they are helped in the fact it is a smaller ground, and obviously last night was a night game and they were winning against one of the "top" teams".

As an aside, the Citeh fans were very quiet which I was pretty surprised about.

It's weird but Cit£h are one of a few teams who tend to be noisier at home than away.

first time I went to the Etihad was last season, it was the most soulless football ground iv'e been to
I didn't think anywhere could match Chelsea for that but they have managed it

Must admit not been to the Etihad in a few seasons so I take it the prawn sandwich munchers have fully taken over?

no its not that, its like the fans don't fit in with the stadium the money or the success,
they are like zombies turning up to something they don't really understand anymore

you almost feel sorry for them, striped of everything they once stood for ( mostly decades of underachievement)

almost

I was flabbergasted with OT on Saturday.
Not once did the Stretford End sing. Not even. " Utd, Utd, Utd"

Did it ruin the 'Theatre of Dreams' experience for you?
It's not what it used to be for sure.
Still quite funny to watch all the tourists queueing to get into the mega store and the new Hotel Football over the road.

And if you really want a good laugh imagine how much they're spending.

I read somewhere it was circa £250 a night when there was a home game on ?? Not sure how much a pint is there but there looked to be an open top bar area up on the roof ??

I meant the megastore mainly, but a lot of that money goes to Manchester United, which means those quiet, daytripping fans you scoff at are helping make United a much richer club no matter how much noise Crystal Palace supporters make.

And that is why the Man U board would prefer to have less season ticket holders and more "day trippers" in the ground.  The season ticket holders only visit the shop occasionally, the vast majority of day trippers will visit and spend quite a few quid on items to remember their fabulous day out by. We scoff but who are the clever ones?

I'll say it again - I can never understand why we ever so hilariously say Manchester United fans are all from Surrey and even more rib-ticklingly wheel out the tired Scouse cliches for da Pool when every time both clubs turn up at Villa the Liverpudlian version have more out of towners than their northern neighbours.

Quite surreally my elder sister, born and bred in Birmingham then permanently transplanted to Surrey, who for 50 years of her life disliked football intensely and would only discuss cricket with me, suddenly became a born-again Liverpool supporter, for going-on 20 years now. She now attends as many games at Anfield as she can (in between attending Bristol City games with second husband ST holder).

I get the full Stevie-G experience whenever we meet.

Baffled of Tunbridge Wells.

Just went on viagogo experimenting to see if I could get a ticket to OT on Sunday for the C£y game, corporate you can in the north east quadrant for circa £230 a pop, that includes a padded seat and a pay bar, no food. Robbing wankers but they have mugs who pay it I guess and also spend £100 in the megastore while they're there.

You can't put a price on being able to watch Michael Carrick in his pomp.

I'm pretty sure that Chelsea and Manure only sell hospitality packages on Viagogo, not standard match tickets.

Surprised I didn't need a utd ref or account to be able to book (I didn't but I followed it through to the payment page)
CI£y you have to be a "cityzen" to book

Just seen an advert on SKY for the Manchester derby at the weekend claiming some nonsense like it is one of "most recognised fixtures in English football" (can't remember the exact annoying term they used).  How can it be that when, up until the last few seasons, it was probably not even in the top three most important fixtures for one club and their legion of "supporters".
