How the hell did Monaco win 3-1 at Arsenal, they look shit. Have to say Arsenal fully deserve to go through.

Because Giroud was wearing my nan's boots.

Tbh, Monaco were defending effectively a three goal lead, that's how they play, and that's how they did play.
Through, worked.

Great.
And well done to our ex captain for reminding us what Fanzone used to be like.
He gets worse doesn't he?

Is it just me or does Welbeck look quite overrated? doesn't look like he'd belong into Arsenal team.

I've never understood what so many people see in him. He's got a good touch and works hard but he's not got the instinct in the box to be a top striker, hasn't got the vision to play deeper or wider at the top level and is too 'nice' to paly any deeper.  He's like an easier on the eye Heskey.

Away goals should only count after extra time imo.

Disagree. Count over 180 minutes. Extra time "who scores most now, wins". It narks me that the lottery of extra-time away goals is dependent purely upon who came out of the hat first. Finish level on away goals after two lots of 90 minutes, then treat extra time as a separate game, says I.

Away goals is still a stupid rule. But glad Arsenal are out.

Can actually cheer for underdogs in this year's competition rather than worrying about which team are most likely to stuff the horrible English teams.

I want Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Monaco out please.

Lost their two top goalscorers to fairly long-term injuries.

Yeah, exactly this. He gets praised because he's english, if he'd be foreign he'd be called very average.

Don't away goals counter after Extra Time in the Europa League? If so, why the difference between Champions League and Europa League when they're both UEFA competitions?

Is it true if there's no English quarter finalists in the CL next season then England will lose the 4th spot?

Probably not. If we look at the last few seasons, Italy would have to match the biggest gap that has happened between themselves and England in a season, and do it two years running. Bearing in mind that England has the current inbuilt advantage of an extra team earning points, Italy would need to do better than England for at least three seasons for it to be a realistic possibility.

Even in this year of "failure", England still provided three teams in the knock-out stages to Italy's one. It's quite possible that neither will have a Quarter-Finallist. Admittedly Italy may do better in the Europa League but the Champions League still provides most of the points. As evidence, England sat on top of the rankings for a number of years while consistently doing sod all in the UEFA Cup and its revamped successor competition.
