I've only ever met and talked with one Chelsea fan as far as I can recall. He was a very quietly spoken and unassuming middle aged antiques dealer who has been exhibiting at the NEC fairs for many years. As he once pointed out to me, he is a real pre-Abramovitch supporter who has followed them all his life and he's not giving up now. Have to say, a really nice chap and couldn't help feeling a bit sorry for him.

Graeme Souness has just really launched into the Chelsea cheating tonight, epitomised by Costa running 50 yards to join in the "protests" about Ibrahimovic's tackle.

He's probably my favourite pundit.

I agree. And I loved him as a player despite all the incidents he got involved in. I always thought he was dead cool and good looking to boot. If I could have a dinner party and choose ten guests to chat football with over the meal, he would be one of them. Having seen snatches of him on the BBC documentary about Alan Hansen when he quit MOTD, I also suspect Souness is a really nice guy who is a cut above most footballers.

Alan Hansen once told a story of Souness going over the top and hurting a Dynamo Bucharest player at Anfield in a European cup semi. When they travelled to the away leg the locals were after Souness' blood at the airport and in the ground. Hansen said the atmosphere was one of pure hatred and unsettled several of the other players. He swears Souness loved every second of it and was man of the match.

Everton could win the Europa league and go down. Then they would be competing in both the Championship and the Champions League next season. That would be at least 54 games even if they went out on in the first group stage and first round of both domestic cups.
