Daniel Sturridge - "I'm grateful to God I was able to come back from injury".

Oh do fuck off.

It's the American Way.

Lining up a lucrative pension in the MLS.

Is anyone else a secret fan of The Football League Show on BBC1 (after MOTD)?

I love it. It lasts FOREVER (well, about an hour and a half), and even manages to put up with that grating bald twat with his over-familiar manner AND Steve Claridge while still being watchable.

Yes, yes, yes, training for next season etc etc etc.

A total insult to the medical professionals and team training staff that have helped him to recover.

Yep, I like it too, mainly on account of it lasting forever and containing nothing but about a million goals, ridiculous red cards and some unbelievably filthy tackles.  Although I do think that, aside from the shame and the financial implications, the most awful thing about relegation would be the prospect of that grating bald twat turning up to do one of his light-hearted featurettes at our place.  When that bellend's hanging around your tunnel with an amusing quip, you know you're in the shit.

I just mentioned this on another thread, but my brother in law is a Hull fan, so has intimate acquaintance with the relegation thing. I remember when they were in the Championship, that bald twat became his bete noir.

it was almost as if "freedom from that bald twat on the Football League Show" had supplanted "getting loads more money and not having to go and play matches at Doncaster" as the main reason to want to get promotion.

Rumour on MOTD that Adebayor is about to sign for QPR.  Some people never learn.

It makes me feel old because I always fall asleep during it. Usually some time between the end of the championship games and the start of the league one games.

He's saying something he believes. He isn't insulting anyone at all.

It's still slightly odd to think that God, should such an entity exist, would prioritise helping a millionaire kick a ball around ahead of, say, sorting out the Ebola Crisis or bringing about peace in the Middle East.

If Sturridge gained any strength or inspiration from his faith during his injury, you could argue that God helped whether he exists or not.

Quite possibly. It's still somewhat arrogant and self-obsessed to think God should give a fuck about you and not care about all the suffering in the World. It's a fairly common mindset among crazy theists though.
