Rooney hasn't been the same player since he had that roadkill stapled to the top of his skull. He needs to get the pliers, pull that crap out and start being a decent player again. This was the sort of game Rooney should have been looking to absolutely terrorise the defence.

13 shots today and his goal came from the spot.
When Sturridge is fit again it's going to be very interesting to see what Woy does. Welbeck looks a lot better through the middle than out wide and has been in fine form for Arsenal. He played pretty well today too. Sturridge you'd expect to score plenty for Liverpool when he gets back, and Sterling is the new prodigy upon which English hopes shall rest.
It's about time Rooney had to worry about his place in the England set up.
In addition whilst he's serving his ban for Utd, he could conceivably find himself have to work hard to get back into their side if they look better without him.

With Falcao partnering Van Persie and Mata just in behind, they might well do.

Was Alan Green really calling San Marino....... San Marinho ?

Alan Green makes me want to switch off. I can't bear his self-opinionated twaddle.

Well the game was exciting until the goalie slipped over and San Marino conceded, then I switched over.

Rooney is England captain so he's not going to be dropped anytime soon, even if he wasn't getting into the Man Utd side.

I'd rather have a night out with the Madrid nurse than watch England play. Awful viewing.

I don't know why I bother watching England matches any more. It has become one of those things you sigh about, have no real interest in doing, but feel like you have to do. Like visiting your nan or something.

Alan Green....the Ian Paisley of sports radio commentating.

Considering he is a radio commentator he spends an awful lot of match time spouting his opinions rather than focusing on the match  where listeners don't have the advanatage of seeing the actual action.

This should be in the 'things that make you smile' thread.

Villa's involvement tonight:

90 minutes for Hutton, Scotland beat Georgia 1-0
Okore doesn't play, unused substitute, Denmark draw 1-1 away to Albania.
