Ooh, Dawkins. Forgot about him. I may have to put him in over Tonev. Possibly. Maybe. Perhaps...

It's got to be the pantaloon clown Kiraly in goal, despite Enkelman's high profile gaff I watched him give a man of the match display at West Ham later in the season to get a draw when we badly needed it.

I can forgive Kiraly and Enckelman to some extent, they made bad errors, but that can happen. Carson and Schmeichel made huge errors in every game, always costing us goals.

The worst thing is that Schmeichel played well for all of his other clubs.

Some real shockers above, proper causes a shudder. A bit harsh on Ridgewell and De La Cruz though I feel. Not world class by any stretch, but I'd consider them steady and reasonably dependable and at least they put a shift in, unlike some of the wasters we've been lumbered with.

Bit harsh to have Jordan Bowery in there, I don't think we've seen enough of him yet and he was excellent against Hull.

I suppose part of my thinking is also what some players did post Villa. I'd have gone for Bosko but he established himself as a goalscorer at national and international career after us. So perhaps might have been better with a fairer crack of the whip (or not).

I suspect in a years time, Bowery will end up playing L1 and struggling to even have much impact at that level. As much as he did well against Hull, it was a half arsed Hull side giving him all the time in the world, and for a striker he never really looks close to scoring a goal.

I can only remember Kiraly making one error for us. Unfortunately, like Enckelman, it's the main thing people now remember about his Villa spell. Schmeichel was, easily, the most gaffe-prone keeper we've had during the last twenty years. In the second half of the season he was costing us virtually a goal a game.

Anyway, I'm not including any current players, and I'm playing 3-5-2 because I found it much easier to think of crap midfielders than crap defenders...

GK Schmeichel
RB Beye
CB Ridgewell
LB Ghrayib
RM Salifou
CM Osbourne
CM Ireland
CM Kinsella
LM Djemba-Djemba (I know I'm playing him out of position, but as he was useless in his "proper" position I don't see it making much difference)
CF De Bilde
CF Heskey

The frustrating thing about Schmeichel that was despite the fact he was old by the time we got him, he'd gone from being arguably the Worlds best goalkeeper to being a liability for us. I mean Big Brad was around that age when he signed for us and was very reliable IMO.
To add insult to injury, Schmeichel then had a pretty solid season for Man City after leaving us. Bastard.

Apart from the infamous Manure error, Kiraly wasn't that bad in the other games from memory.

Think I'd put Carson in as keeper, he crumbled massively after the Croatia game and that was playing behind a very strong back 4 that Guzan hasn't played behind of that calibre.
