Great buzz at the ground yesterday. A fair few stayed for the players lap of appreciation and it was well received. Vlaar and Albrighton were still on the pitch kicking a ball about with their young children at almost 6pm, all in their Villa kits, nice to see it was.

See Vlaar gets us.  I know he had his critics on here but I think with better partners and midfielders round him next year he'll be great.

Decent overall performance yesterday apart from the slight wobble midway through the first half. I sat shaking my head at Bowery replacing Gabby but he played well so fair play to him. Another mention for Weimann who justifiably at times has had stick this season but he was terrific yesterday.

I think your right on Gabby, Bowery provided much more of an outlet and held the ball up well. He's a big lad and pretty powerful. Better control than Gabby, then again so have I!

I thought Gabby looked very lively yesterday and I was concerned that with him going off, we'd really struggle to create anything, hats off to Bowery, he gave a powerful, disciplined performance and always had Davies looking slightly panicked. Thought Westwood and Bertrand both had fine games, Baker and Clark were steady and Delph played with a lot of character, he loses a mark for the end of match fist pump though, scraping to safety in the last home match isnt a cause for celebration, not in this part of the city.

I think that has been the case now for couple of seasons. He has little else to offer. He is not going to be another Kevin Philips. I think in close season may be a move to up and coming championship club for 2/3 years followed by retirement.

Eh? He was great for us when we got going in the 2nd half of last season. He started brightly, struggling with injuries coupled with a loss of form this season. We shouldn't even countenance letting him go anywhere as he's still an important player for us.

Apart from that second half of the season line, you could use the struggling with injuries / loss of form to describe him for the last 4 seasons. At some point you have to say, is that going to be it for him. His touch is awful most times and his front running ( lack of) means we don't create as much as we should.

Nice to see vlaar writing a paragraph or two in the programme yesterday explaining the post match reaction at Swansea last week. He was at pains to highlight he didn't diss the away support but his gesture was more in agreement with the fans reaction to the abjectness of that performance. Fair play to him.

 Gabby is on £50k per week, not good enough for that kind of money.
