Having time to reflect in today's match...I feared when Gabby went off he was going to bring Holt on, but he went for Bowrey, who playing in his correct position, was really impressive. Albrighton have go say is poor...just don't think he's good enough. Their goal was poor from our perspective, they just didn't pick up the pass and expecting the shot from Huddlestone....poor. But played well and got the poits. Now for some action in the Summer...owner, Manager etc. fingers crossed.

If you watch the replay their goal was clearly offside, bad error from the linesman. Relieved that we go again and that the lads put the effort in but our relief shouldn't hide the fact that we are a poor side. Hull were really not up for it and it showed by them passing it around in their midfield when 3-1 down. Special mention to Baker his aggression led to Weimanns first and he did well in defence, i wish him well in his playing career at another club. Weimann proved that he can be a player in his natural position. Looking forward to a new owner and new manager fingers crossed.

Watching it again now, Baker did great in the 2nd goal.

Great header from Andi for the 3rd. A real strikers finish.

Their goal was offside from the free kick.

Crowd were superb all match.

Not long back. Long day. But worth it. And did include a good post-match Balti in Adils.

Only about the third win son and I have seen at Villa Park in about the last six seasons.

Thought Weimann, Delph and Bowery made the difference. Other than that two poor teams playing mediocre football. Villa were starting to lose the plot I thought in the middle of the first half, and it could so easily have all gone very wrong if they hadn't scored the second when they did.

But happy with the result.

I think Bowery's performance today shows there may be a few maligned players who deserve another season. But under a different manager/coach.

Only downside today. Had a horrible journey up and just made kick off. But too late to buy a last H and V from outside the ground.

Got off the plane an hour ago. Took me a while to get up the balls to check the result. Very very relieved.

This relegation battle shit must not happen again.

Help me. Am I missing something?
Couldn't we still go down if everything goes belly up and goal difference is destroyed?

Yes if Norwich beat Chelsea and then arsenal and there's a 17 goal turnaround in two games. I'm relaxed.

Thought the drum sounded good from the Upper North-though at the time i thought it was some fans in the lower Holte banging on the shutters behind them at the back.Flags looked great when i finally spotted them in the gantry-would have looked better on the Holte though.
Pleased for Bowery, showed some nice touches and positional link up with Weimann. And to think most on here would have been dipping their pens in vitriol  at his mere inclusion.

Did anyone get to see the Ska band In the Eddy's ?
We were there but had to leave about 6pm when they still hadn't started their set

Yes, they were due to start at 6.30 but actually came on at ten past six.

Not as busy as it has been in previous years. A sad farewell to the Eddies.

Great buzz at the ground yesterday. A fair few stayed for the players lap of appreciation and it was well received. Vlaar and Albrighton were still on the pitch kicking a ball about with their young children at almost 6pm, all in their Villa kits, nice to see it was.

Yes special mention to our fans, don't let any expert journalist slag us off ,numerous examples of our class yesterday, our wonderful support throughout the game, the good luck ovation for Hull in the FA cup (even though they were singinging 'going down' to us when they equalised) and indeed a fairly low key but classy and friendly lap of appreciation,I think the players appreciated it .

Brilliant fans.

Embarassed to say it was my first game of the season yesterday but the support the team has got yesterday and in general is something for us to be proud of when we don't have a team to match.

The journalists that copy the near 10 year old mantra of a useless, unemployable clown manager like O'Leary, who to deflect from his deficiencies called us fickle are about as useless at their jobs as pignose was.

Arsenal fans turned on Wenger after one game.
Newcastle fans protest being in the top half of the table.
Man Utd fans give the manager less than a season.
Man City fans turned on Mancini because they didn't win back to back titles.
Spurs fans wanted AVB out because they don't score enough goals.

The list goes on and on and barely a peep is mentioned. We have 4 relegation battles in a row and still get behind the side despite losing the majority of our home games for 3 years straight. That's support.

We saw the upside of playing young, developing players yesterday. A team under pressure played with verve, it was a bit like this time last year.

It really has been a wasted season. Just about the only real progress has been that some unwanted contracts have aged.
