In addition, the Premiership which grew from the Football League founded by Aston Villa, is now far more relevant and powerful than the Football Association in the game.  See today's letter by five football administrators that states "the FA is dominated by elderly white men".

Elderly white men who didn't play the game to a high enough level to fully understand what needs to happen. They are paper pushers, bureaucratic and out dated. The game has moved forward fast and it needs innovative thinkers and ballsy characters, honest ones, to get involved.

They should put this lot in charge of the FA*:-

*stupid name for a band. They manifestly aren't black, if they are teenagers then by definition they are "young" without the need for the tautology, and if they are still going at the age of 73 like the Stones they will look a little daft.

I don't agree with the bold bit in the slightest.  This excuse is used all the time in football and it's nonsense, being able to kick a ball around has no bearing on your ability to run a club or run the FA.  I want people with the intelligence to do the job, enough awareness of the game to see the problems and see the needs of the players and fans and the backbone to put those before the wants of commercial partners.  Money is obviously important but football in England has forgotten it's roots in it's pursuit of cash.  If the people who can fix that problem are elderly, white male bureaucrats then so be it.

Precisely, and my concern is that just like in politics, those looking to overthrow the establishment do so not for the benefit of the greater good, but so they can line their pockets even further.

Tbf, Greg Dyke was on Today, and he was at pains to explain that the reason why they'd done so was because the institution steadfastly refused to reform under his stewardship, as much as he tried to do what he could see needed to be done. 120(?) council members, SIX of which are women, and a paltry FOUR non-white. A sorry state of affairs in 21st century England, but he just couldn't get turkeys to vote for Christmas.

Financial types, what is the relevance of this:

Didn't Carson Yeung over at the Sty have one of these as well? Are the banks worried about Xia's finances?

We have given a Charge Fixed And Floating to HSBC, which would suggest the Company is borrowing money from them or about to.
What's the need? Is it a loan to Recon or a loan for the Villa? Thought they were supposed to be minted.
A loan from HSBC to Recon. Have to wait for the Accounts to find out how much.

Firstly, colour has nothing to do with any of this. So, not sure why that's mentioned! Secondly, the people running the game ARE businessmen, therefore, lining pockets is the objective. Perhaps we need a bit of both. Those who do business to make sure the game stays sustainable, those who play, or have played, to review rules, goals, fair play, unfair play etc.

Mr Winter should know we are not merely one of the founders of the football league, and we didn't just help to found the football league. We are the founders. We founded it. I think when our Tony's finished more people will be aware of that fact. I like his plans, I like him.

I noticed that too. What must have been his motivation to inset 'help' found the league?

Ignorance and laziness?

It's all about narratives. Liverpool, Man Utd or any London club would, if they had done what we had done, have certainly been the founders of the Football League, with all the romance, acknowledgement and gratitude associated with such an achievement. It couldn't possibly have started with Aston Villa from Birmingham, even if it really did.

Nobody's going to make the case on our behalf. The club should have done much more down the years on this issue.
