let's hope it is a permanent position where he oversees the football side of the club going forward. Think how much better Randy's time at the club would be if he just surrounded himself with better people. It could have been just to reach out Sir Graham or Sir Brian if they weren't available in any permanent capacity. It's so ironic that a man who proclaimed Proud history didn't surround himself with it as much as he could have.

I mean no disrespect to Sir Brian, but shouldn't his suitability for the job be based on more than the fact that he was a great player and manager for us 40 and 20 years ago respectively?  His career has pretty much been in free fall since he left us, and he's either been in non-league or out out of a job for most of the last 10 years.

Maybe he's just pointing out that the new owner likes to communicate. It wasn't just Murphy who was pissed off at that. It affected all of us a lot more.

Yes, Lerner should have spoken to the media more but that's never going to be the most important thing an owner does.

There's no doubt he got bitter about it. Almost to a fault. It doesn't make him wrong about what he said just I think he went about it the wrong way.

I don't even think that his bitterness was entirely self-centred. Given that his job is (partly) to report on Villa, I guess he must have been infuriated on our behalf too that Lerner refused to communicate beyond the occasional soft Shunammite shuffle.

Sir Brian will always have the love of Villa fans but I agree with Risso, this should be about getting the right people in the right positions, regardless of what connection they have with Villa, I think it maybe best if he is some sort of ambassador and a communicator for the club.
I would also like to hear something from Mr. King as to his thoughts on the new owner and board, his silence is a wee bit worrying.

I've just watched the video with Dr Xia and RDM and they both looked quite proud when they were on the Villa Park turf.

Yep, good luck, it would be great to make Villa Park a ground feared by all...well except our own players.
