I'm sure Steve Hollis has put in a good word for Sir Brian to Tony Xia. I like this set up with Sir Brian involved.

I may have missed it in thread, so apologies if I'm repeating old news, but the fact Sir Brian has stepped down as Jersey manager today bodes well for the club.

If he's staying with us, it must mean he is happy with developments, but it will also be like having a guardian angel watching over the new regime.

He's just arrived at Birmingham airport.

let's hope it is a permanent position where he oversees the football side of the club going forward. Think how much better Randy's time at the club would be if he just surrounded himself with better people. It could have been just to reach out Sir Graham or Sir Brian if they weren't available in any permanent capacity. It's so ironic that a man who proclaimed Proud history didn't surround himself with it as much as he could have.

Is that similar to a Kit Man?

Maybe he's just pointing out that the new owner likes to communicate. It wasn't just Murphy who was pissed off at that. It affected all of us a lot more.

It was Pat Murphy who let it colour almost everything he wrote about the club though. He kept on and on about it.

Yes, Lerner should have spoken to the media more but that's never going to be the most important thing an owner does.

Whilst that has a certain emotional appeal (and it's what I wanted when it was announced initially it would be a temporary gig) I'm not sure it is the best way to go.

Sir Brian was part of the football board who recommended Nigel Pearson.  The manager/ head coach is pretty much the biggest decision a DoF can make.   Dr Tony didn't listen to him on that, so what will he listen to him on? There is no point just having him there for tokenism.

Brian Little is a big deal to us, but how much does someone like Di Matteo know about him, and would he take any input from him on football matters?

I would rather have Pat Murphy on our side than against us.

Wasn't the recommendation for Pearson before Xia came on the scene though.

What the club needs is a solid football person on the board that is a bit detached from the manager and the 1st team that can actually assess whether the manager/coaches are doing a good job but also be the mediating voice alongside the manager and the Board.  Somebody that can provide continuity, can oversee all of the teams at the different age groups and ensure the football structure is right below the 1st team.  I think Brian Little could do this job.

Having recently caught up with things today it's great to hear that new owners are in place. In my opinion we saw the light of the bright future go out but now it's switched back on.  I feel it's an enthusiastic injection of many things neeeded at villa.  I only see positive in this situation. Think of Tony Xia and how he's thinking and feeling in all this

The possibilities are open and endless. He's got a wonderful opportunity to grow this. Actually a gargantuan opportunity !!
Villa are going to enjoy the bigger media coverage as is Tony Xia business' which can only be a good thing.
I think we have someone who is genuinely looking to make a difference.

Ideally i would like a scenario where Dr Xia asks how many 1st team football players are working for him ?

The answer being less then half.

So he pay off /loans out those not working and brings in some new people.

The coaching team I stills far more confidence in me than the one in the boardroom. Time will tell though.

Think it's all linked really. I mean Kevin Bond was appointed 1st team coach by Xia due to his expereince over in Hong Kong and managing there. The link man between Tony and the first team coach is there to see. So it's not so such a surprise appointment but maybe for RDM.

There's no doubt he got bitter about it. Almost to a fault. It doesn't make him wrong about what he said just I think he went about it the wrong way.
