Oh fuck, there's going to be a seven page punfest now with variations on how plucked off people are.

Worse than that I've now got the Chicken Tonight jingle in my bonce... My own fault. Shouldn't have got involved.

See Mark, most of that I was ok with but why did you have to say 'fried chicken' you just seem to have decided to randomly slip in a bit of casual racism which really served no purpose.

I think you're reading something into it that's not there. A fair amount of my family are of similar ethnicity to these guys. Apology?

What difference does that make?

EDIT although having read it, it doesn't look racist to me.

But why would you say the conversation goes: we were at a successful club together, we're really rich, we can probably get cushy jobs afterwards, mmm chicken, we're both so fit, we'[re both rich ...

it just doesn't fit in with anything else that he said.  If someone can explain to me why it makes sense being there then I'll apologise for seeing something that wasn't there but I can't think of anything.

I used to follow a few footballers on twitter.

The reason i binned them is because approximately 30% of their posts seemed to be about going to Nandos. I just assumed it was something along those lines (and another 30% were about Dubai, something else referenced in the post).

Is there even a racial stereotype in this country which associates black people with fried chicken?

I'm usually amongst the first to pile into someone being racist here, and am acutely sensitive to it, but I honestly can't see anything in the original post here to raise an eyebrow about.

Yes, Paulie, but you're a known disablist and wheelchair set-firer. On this occasion I also thought it was a reference to Nandos, and have never been aware of 'fried chicken' as a racial slur in this country. If we're applying American rules, then the word 'oriental' will also be highly offensive, and might also render most of the latter part of the Takeover thread a disgusting hate crime for which all the perpetrators should be tasered on the non-binary genitals.

Freddie Mercury used "fried chicken" as the final lyric of Queen's One Vision.

I had fried chicken for lunch and I am not black. I am very suntanned though.

Where I live in Streatham all sorts of miscreants eat fried chicken of all colours.

I live in Streatham too. The local busses are full of fried chicken remains after the schools kick out. I won't touch the stuff.

That pic doesn't seem right, the other names on the shirts & why would they do a photo shoot of sorts with last season's relegation shirt. .

The guy next to Tony is not Wyness?

Wyness Wiki page now lists him as Villa CEO

Then who is he in the pic?

Definitely isn't Wyness. It's not Samuelson or Cook either, so by process of elimination could be Banfill?

What is the name on the shirt concealed by his left shoulder? Maybe is is his own.

Yes quite possibly, that or he's the new Villa tour guide looking very pleased with himself, as looking at it again I don't see that guy as being a Jamie (Banfill's first name).

Definitnitely not a Jamie. Jamies tend to be irritating little c***s.

Whoever he is might be a nasty c***, but he's (probably) not a Jamie.

Nameist.

If you go to the OS then click on the Chinese flag at the top when it loads in Chinese scroll down to a video of Luc Nillis scoring against Chelsea apart from it being an excellent goal and a reminder of what we lost due to his injury I can't understand what it's doing on there.

That alone makes the term offensive.

Nameist.

Nameist and proud!

I wanted a job at the registery office.  Nearly got until we started discussing the stupid names some people burden their offspring with and we couldn't agree an appropriate positive discouragement policy.

They thought it was a bit extreme to be kneecapping people for calling their child Moondust or Arse Biscuit.

One of the joys of living over here = No "The Apprentice" of either Drumpf or Sugar flavours.

I have no idea who Jamie Lester is and I have no need or desire to find out.

I'm quite happy to take the word of a furtive hobbit on that.
