We had a pop man in Cheltenham.

That's Greater Birmingham innit?

We had a Pop Man here on the edge of the Forest as well. I think that we're safely outside Greater Birmingham

Nobody's interested in England's largest landlocked county? I find that very hard to believe. What's not interesting about significant distance from the sea?

There's no coast whatsoever! Think about that. And it's large.
your making me tired mate , its bedtime

Also, it's probably not me making you tired; the eight cans of Frosty Jack's will be taking their toll, you hot bastard.

I saw a cockle man last saturday for the first time in ages. I've never fathomed why people think that crab sticks and lager are a good combination.

we used to nick the empty bottles of pop at the back of our local  newspaper shop and take them back in the front to get the deposits off them

Relax. I am entirely comfortable that we share interests on Villa and cricket and Shropshire (and probably conman) and you fucking hate my political views and everything I stand for. I get that quite a bit. Well perhaps not that particular set, but the general sentiment...

So Shropshire is anti Brexit. Who knew?

I have no idea, I left in 1993.

I'm pretty sure, having seen what they do to foxes there, despite the law having been changed, that they're pretty Brexitish there.

See, conman, all this Shropshire chat is a right laugh!
yeah , hysterical

I'm mostly in-different, it was important to get the takeover done so that the club can move forward.  But I doubt that the new owner has much interest in the football side of things, which in itself wouldn't be a problem if I thought that he would just take care of the business side of thing and let the manager or football people do their work.  But I fear that he just sees Villa as a play thing, or has unrealistic expectations.  At least Learner had the experience of owning a Sporting brand, and for the most part stayed in the background.

The club is a bit of a mess right now anyway.  I hope with the takeover we will get a bit of direction, but we still seem a long way off that.

Sorry, can we get back on topic. I had a mate who moved house. He told me he lived in Tyes Lane. I couldn't find it in the A to Z (for young people, that's a written sat nav), so I tried Ties Lane, but no luck. Turned out to be Toys Lane. He was from Northfield.
I bought a second hand 3 piece suite from a bloke in Toys Lane.
Just sayin' loike.

What takeover?

In the war there was a Urine Man.  He went around the streets ringing a bell just like a rag and bone man.  He collected the piss from people's chamber pots (no George IIIs allowed).  He would give you a balloon for a substantial quantity.  It was processed by the chemical works to produce ammonia to make explosives as part of the war effort.  Brummies always say urine as two words - yew (pause) ryon.

To introduce an air of uncertainty as to why you're puking your kidneys up come 4am?

Was it lucrative, taking the piss?

I might lie to you John but I would not lie to The Malandro.  True story.  The place where they turned the yew ryun into ammonium nitrate (ite) was right by the bitters ground.  My grandfather used to donate his recycled Ansell's only in the hope that it might contribute to a factory explosion that would destroy the home of the team he detested.

I found this from a Sheffield Wednesday blogger. Seems they'd never heard of their new owner either.  Turns out they are big into tuna.  Not all rich people are well known.

How rich is the new owner of Sheffield Wednesday F.C. Dejphon Chansiri I think we have the Full Monty

When I looked on Wiki records yesterday, there wasn’t even a record for Dejphon Chansiri , however two entries appeared today telling very little about him.  When I first searched on his name, it brought up the company his family own, the Thai Union Frozen Group. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dejphon_Chansiri.

He hasn't been a bad owner for them.
