It's all just too dodgy. Nothing seems to stack up or make sense.

As his motivations are likely driven by a desire to impress his government for political leverage as he's doing their bidding. He wants to be in the spotlight.

I'm still in the patient and hopeful camp.  For Xia to have got to this stage, he will have to have verified his wealth to Merrill Lynch and/or the new law firm handling the sale, plus Hollis and Lerner, and there's no way he can have done that without proving that he's got the cash available to do the deal.

I know lots of extremely rich people who you wouldn't be able to find out much about on the internet, mainly due to the fact that they don't want you to.  I hope Xia is one of those.

If he is, then why is he now doing interviews to all and sundry?

Surely 'because people are asking him to' is the simplest answer.

but there's no new info there, we're just seeing the same questions being repeated by numerous sources and the overload efect of it makes it seem bigger than it is.  The "PL doubts" thing that's been stated repeatedly now seems to have no basis in fact and other things, like his finances and his education have been responded to but because stories questioning both come out afterwards those answer are being seen as less valid.  I've said a few times that I don't know enough to be able to judge him but with every new rehash of the same concerns a few more people decide that he's dodgy despite there being less evidence of it today than there was on friday.

I think that is fair enough, but at the same time there are quite a few people who have had doubts pretty much immediately - the "PL doubts" are certainly not the thing to have caused the concern.

And as for the rehash, I think this is probably the case for all of the arguments. We initially were given info that he was worth billions, then he was the front man, then millions with some covert state backing, and now he is suggesting to the Daily Mail he is worth billions again.

I am sure it will go through, and we will only really find out once we start hiring new staff, playing and managerial.

Me too. It would be quite the stunt to have got this far. A lot of very smart people had to have been duped. Not saying it can't be done but it would be the kind of stuff seen in movies and not real life. So as we all hope this week validates his ability to buy us and we appoint a good manager to lead our return to the PL.
