Xia said his immediate objective will be to support Aston Villa's effort to return to the Premier League. If the club can achieve that goal next season, and is not relegated to the lower league for three years, he said Recon will pay the club's current owner another 40 million pounds, according to the deal.

So if we get promoted next year and not relegated again within three years Xia has to fork out another £40m? I wonder how that's going to turn out?
Hmm, that's a bizarre incentive to not do too well..?!?

Not really, even with that clause the TV deal for the Premier League will make it far more lucrative to be up there.

This blind trust in Hollis doing substantial due diligence on the purchaser is not something I have great faith in. Ultimately he was employed by Randy to sell the club and get some money in, his position will possibly change under new ownership. Surely his job was to find a buyer who had cash to pay for the club and negotiate the best price possible. Whether Recon Group have loads of cash for future investment or not, is surely not his primary concern as long as they can cough up the £60/£70mill. I suspect he did enough due diligence to confirm that but beyond that?

That is another thing that bugged me. He should not be criticising 'previous management', what he means by that. It is unnecessary and is poor form.
He should be absolutely. We need to know he can identify where we have gone wrong.
Indeed - I have no problem with that. I'd much prefer someone who is openly aware of what a shambles things have been as it at least suggests he understands how not to do things. And the previous management deserve to be recognised as crappy business people.

Yes, totally agree. You have to identify the crap running of this football club for the last six years. Apologists for Lerner's regime are simply burying their blinkered heads in the sand.

And a throwaway line about 'previous management' tells us what exactly? Other than he's a bit lacking in class.

I would like Brian Little to speak up about this. See what his opinion is about the takeover.

Easy way to not have to pay the additional £40m? Don't get promoted. Bitter sweet decision for Xia to make, although, surely the big money is in the top league and is where we would all want to be?

Express and Star now saying that their might be four managerial candidates, including Moyes and Pearson. Moyes please.

What was Hollis thinking when he claimed Xia was responsible for the Bird's Nest stadium, he should have checked and double checked his facts before spouting them for all and sundry. It's fuckin amateurish.

Forgive my ignorance here, but is Sir Brian even still around?

As for as I was aware, he was in his advisory role until the end of the season. The season is over and we now have a completely new owner with his own team.

You may well be right Lovejoy. But beyond that it does not bode well for the club, the club's staff, Bodymoor Heath, and the long suffering supporters once Zia and his Group have got full control of the club does it?

If it looks like an elephant and it smells like an elephant, it's probably an elephant.
