Obviously it's a Brummie thing, to look a gift horse in the mouth, must date back to Peaky Blinders. Let's stay positive, just for a change

a good point well made. We're only really happy when we're unhappy. Let's change.

It's strange that so many people are making such an effort to be negative. First it's not going to happen, then it happens but it's still bad because we don't know anything, then we find out a bit more but they pick holes in what he's said... He speaks of ambition but the last guy was also ambitious so that makes a worrying parallel?!

Being negative is just the default setting for some. He's been with us for just under a day. A little patience wouldn't go amiss.

I have read all that has been said by the Doc and Mr Hollis. I feel very confident that we really do have a bright future. Time will tell but it sounds wonderfully exciting. My circumstances don't allow for a season ticket but if I could now the time to get one sorted!

It's got nothing to do with being a Brummie. We're mired in negativity after last season, and few of us can possibly comprehend anything positive happening to us. As Dr X said, time to forget the past and look towards the future. There are no guarantees, but it's got to be better than being lumbered with the previous incumbent.

Would he have been party to the UT closure?

Not for me it's not, I am one of the very few who would still have time for Lerner & co,
And have not been overly negative in the past re managers

I just think this guy is not all that he says and so I've said what I think,
What's the point on saying stuff you don't think,
I have been wrong  before I've been right,
but just to say he might be good he might be bad lets just wait and see is saying nothing, you call it as you see it and take the consequences

This chap has his fingers in so many business pies.  A range of business much wider than RL.   He won't have time to be hands on.  So again it's down to the board at VP to make it work.  Let's hope it's the right board and not like the last where the unrestricted spending of TUM in a vacuum proved t be the start of our demise.

He did however say he'd be buying a house in the Midlands for him, his wife and child so he can be close to things for the first year at least.

Sorry john e, but you're judging the box set by the box. Get it home, stick disc 1 in your DVD player, get some booze and peanuts and see what happens. You might like it.

I don't think people are trying to be negative, it's just the last 5 years have left a lot of people expecting the worst and not trusting. We got our fingers burnt badly with Lerner and now we aren't likely to just give the benefit of any doubt straight up.

Show us not tell us has never been more apt.

But what makes you think that?  What we've actually seen is an official press release from the club, a very short itv interview where he looks absolutely terrified but says nothing all that alarming and a guardian interview where he says everything you'd expect from a new owner.  His group are exactly who he says they are and they have a diverse portfolio across multiple sectors exactly as has been suggested.  There are a few small question marks but they're comparatively tiny so I don't see how you can have formed the opinion you have from what we've seen.

The last bloke wasn't ambitious, he was a dreamer. There's a difference.

Do you mean Docherty? Our exit from that division was in the wrong direction at the end of the season he managed us for most of.
