The Financial Fair Play rules seem to have killed off the prospect of rich owners coming in. It's not unusual in business for a company to aggressively take control of the market and then create barriers to prevent competitors coming in. That's what's happened with FFP - billionaires know they can no longer just throw money at it to establish their team among the elite. Not surprising that Randy voted against it.

Even if the asking price were £75m at the moment I think Randy would struggle to sell. If  the club is going to be sold, next summer is the time, as long as we have PL status

Billionaires will be queuing up to buy PL clubs when the next new TV deal is negotiated/announced. The one that starts next season will be small fry compared to the one after.

I think Randy is mad wanting to sell now for £150m; he should be busy ensuring our status ready for the 2019 TV deal, when he could make some real money. Then again, he's not the brightest lamp in the street is he?

One of the problem is that the more money that comes in from TV, the higher the players wages go.  Until you get clubs actually making money, the number of owners willing to come in with money will be limited.

People have been talking about a salary cap but I wonder whether a club salary budget cap would be better.  This would mean that clubs like Chelsea would not be able to fill a squad with high earners, with some players never playing.  This may encourage players to stay with lesser clubs as there would not be such a pay differential i.e. best paid player at one club compared with 20th best paid player at a top club with no difference in wages.

I'm already confident of the purchase, 5 magic beans is being asked but I'm sure 4 will do

Swiss investment group.
Lerner did say he'd step down as chairman this summer if he couldn't find a buyer.

That'll turn our fortunes around. Absent owner resolves to do even less.

And with that news, the TBAR server washed down its amphetamines with a can of Relentless and readied itself for a fortnight's work. It will have earned its rest.

I'd happily have Sepp as our new owner, we would be stinking rich and would surely win the World Cup.
