Thanks - yes that makes sense. But aren't we way past that stage?

Company referred to - https://www.archover.com/

The credentials of that company look well short of being involved in a sale this anyway though.

I wonder if the veracity of this claim can be wieghed against this little nugget on Archover's own website.

I saw some bulltwit today to the effect that the Israeli bank owned by the Arison family is playing a part in any takeover.

I really do hope Jennifer Aniston is taking over

No no, I'm glad you posted the picture, I was too lazy to do it myself.

That screen shot the bloke posted.

It only refers to the guy handling it, it doesn't mean it's him who posted it. I can't believe anyone in a job like that would be so mind-bendingly fucking stupid to do that, so have no doubt it wont be him.

That's by the by, though, the thing that concerned me most was that it referred to a "leveraged buyout".

It isn't where the new owners come from (and let's be honest, all this "I hope it isn' the Chinese" or "no more Americans" is flirting pretty closely with racism) that matters most, it is what they do with the club and that starts with how they buy it.

If the screen shot is from a bid that has supposedly fallen through, who caes?

Apparently the screenshot was taken by someone who works for a crowdfunding company, which means that the bid that is referred to there was looking into funding options and has now apparently failed.

No, it was posted by someone who works for a crowdfunding company. There's a big difference.

I don't think crowdfunding will be any part of any bid.

Besides, isn't the main thing about crowdfunding the fact that the "crowd" (ie the public) are meant to know about it?

Crowd funding to buy a Premier League club. Lulz.

Out of interest, what game was it that set the $84milion record?

According to that bastian of truth and fount of all knowledge that is Wikipedia something called Star Citizen

Wiki page

Quote from: Wikipedia
Space combat video game from Chris Roberts, designer of Wing Commander. It is the largest crowd-funded project of any genre, with over 908,000 backers. Listed on December 2014 at more than $65,300,000 as a Guinness World Record. Of the total amount, $6,238,563 were raised on Kickstarter and Roberts' own website on November 19, 2012.

Although the quote states $65.3M, the list quotes the $84M.  Either way maybe I should crowdfund my retirement/world tour if that's the kind of funding you can attract.

I'll probably have to dress it up a bit mind.  Research for a book/BluRay series on cultures of the world with pod-casts and webinars on the way?

To be fair Star Citizen looks pretty impressive and most of the crowd funding has been people pre-purchasing the ships that they want to have when it comes out.

I don't really think it would be either but the claim for legitimacy came by stating who the guy worked for and that he was taking a big risk posting it.  The assumption therefore has to be that the company are involved in some way, if he's just posting a copy of a picture taken by a friend who works elsewhere what are the risks to him?

As ViD states, too much about the whole think seems inconsistent and gives off a clear scent but even if it is genuine in some way I still think this  would be in relation to another bid and not the one who have been given exclusivity.  If that wasn't the case there would be some 'real' reports on this by now, 24hours is a long time in this situation and no one with any reputation has blinked, which suggests there isn't a story because this would be a big exclusive if there was any truth in it.

That's nice. We will still have a plane whose whereabouts we try to pinpoint even after Randy has gone.
