To be quite honest, if it's a consortium from Hong Kong and this is true I'm glad they failed DD or the FA test.

Why?

Isn't the club owned by Reform Acquisitions Limited and Reform Acquisitions LLC is Randy's ultimate holding company.  Also, Randy is a bit informal, shouldn't it be Randolph.  Lawyers are c**** (apologies if any of you are lawyers) at the best of times but they usually gets names correct.

Thanks for that sweeping generalisation!

Personally, as someone who is a c*** at the best of times I am waiting for an apology at the suggestion I might be a lawyer. ;)

Like it!

I was a c**t before I became a lawyer, I shall be one after I cease to be a lawyer and I am one at evenings and weekends too, the two aren't related!

Regardless of where a potential buyer is from if they fail at any stage it is a good thing because it means the process is doing its job. We need something sustainable and that will be good to Villa.

But, do you get Bank Holidays off Richard?

Seriously, as stated above; shortened and pet names are disallowed on legal documents.  I know this because when we bought our first house, we went to sign the contract and found there was a, what we thought an insignificant problem.  Mrs S's given forename ends with the letter 'a', the law firm had it down spelt with the letter 'e'.  It was Mrs S that pointed this out thinking it didn't matter.  It turned out the whole lot had to be scrapped and done over again.  We had to go back a week later to sign the amended documents.  That was 1975 mind.

You were just unlucky to buy a house before they invented Tipp-Ex Dave. ;)

I've not seen the tweets but is the person referring to the FA's 'fit and proper person' test?

Before they've made an offer and without their identity being made public? I think not.

Not bad, but if you tell that story in enough pubs you will eventually meet someone who will claim to have copied out the Magna Carta onto a grain of rice.

Which Magna Carta there are several versions the first one lasted but a few days. I am enjoying this thread much better than the misery of the football season, it will only be outdone when a new owner takes over then the place will go crazy.

I didn't know that about the first Magna Carta only lasting a few days. Thanks to you I now have a great quiz question involving the first Magna Carta, Pope John Paul the first and Kevin Cullis.

That screen shot the bloke posted.

It only refers to the guy handling it, it doesn't mean it's him who posted it. I can't believe anyone in a job like that would be so mind-bendingly fucking stupid to do that, so have no doubt it wont be him.

That's by the by, though, the thing that concerned me most was that it referred to a "leveraged buyout".

It isn't where the new owners come from (and let's be honest, all this "I hope it isn' the Chinese" or "no more Americans" is flirting pretty closely with racism) that matters most, it is what they do with the club and that starts with how they buy it.

I suppose it boils down to whether Randy follows through on what he has implied or just takes the money.

Also, surely this ought to be part of the 'fit and proper' consideration by the league.  For a club in Villa's position, interest on loans for a buy out would not be sustainable.  Whereas in Man Utd's situation, the growth was always going to outweigh the liability, albeit with a bit of an impact on transfers.
