There may well have been people going Iver the books for months; Lerner will have had his own crew in preparing for DD as well.

I don't know why everyone is panicked, the season has o my just finished, the window doesn't open for 3 weeks (1st July) and as has been said we're already into the exclusivity.

Fox and Sherwood will likely stay on as part of the deal, at least for a while, as part of Lerner's requirements. Same with heads of Dept, though new roles could be created, or people offered compromise agreements to go.

I genuinely don't understand why all people can see is doom and  gloom.

Very hypothetical scenario for the money boffins out there but say:

We spend 50m on players before take-over takes place.  The club is then sold for 200m rather than the reported 150m.
Could we write off the 50m in transfer fees as part of the purchase of the club (as I understand investment in infrastructure is exempt from FFP)?  Originally Randy was allegedly asking for 200m therefore hiding the 50m would not be that unrealistic.

It'd be a very handy head-start over other clubs who need to comply with the FFP rules.  Albeit randy would be fucked if the deal fell through.
If I was business person about to take over a football club and wanted to make an immediate improvements to the squad with a substantial investment in the team knowing that FFP rules may restrict spending in the future then that is the kind of loophole I'd be looking to exploit to my advantage...however I'm sure it would cause an investigation should Randy start spending wildly out of character on the team given his record in the last few years and the much publicised fact that we are in the midst of a takeover process. The legalities of this would certainly be questioned, however I'm not sure if there are any laws to prevent it.

Who would have believed we would get to the FA Cup final had they been asked in December? Unlikely things can happen.

You're right off course. I imagine getting utterly panned in 2 of our last 3 games and in between losing at home to relegated Burnley hasn't helped the mood. Add in, even if not the biggest deal, not signing Cleverley and Benteke being linked to playing his football to everyone but us then understandably there is an air of concern in some quarters. Hopefully we look back on this "exclusivity" period as the start of the end to this round of uncertainty and we can start to concentrate on the next wave of uncertainty as pertains to whoever takes over the club.

Doesn't really count if it's something you do at every game.

You've got 12 months to prepare as Klopp wants a year off before taking up his new job in England.

That's a right muddle of clues and red herrings from which I have deduced the following:

1.  There is zero money to spend - otherwise surely the new guys would sanction some spending i.e. within Randy's/The club's current means
2.  Or spending is on hold because the quality/cost of any new players will change dramatically once the takeover is complete.
3.  The new guys have their eye on a new manager and so not want to spend anything under the current regime.

Surely this non-disclosure thing works both ways?  Can't we ask them questions about transfer budgets/strategy etc in the period?  From that interview it reads like Fox is not in the loop at all.

Fox sounds like anybody else that has signed a non-disclosure agreement.  He cannot say anything so his words have been chosen so that they could be read as mean anything.  The alternative would be for him to say "no comment" and just think what reaction that would get from the fans.

I agree. None of us know how far down the line things are.

I'm not panicked, this could be the change we desperately need. I'm excited, though there's always a big risk with these things.

Do think we need to crack on though. There's a finite amount of players we can get who will improve us, and many of them will have moved by the time mid July comes. Ings and Austin for example. Tim seems to prefer the English market (by reputation - he's never bought anyone) so where else do you look for a striker.  Probably the championship. Not averse to that - Ings and Austin came from there - but not sure who the next ones on the list are.

Fuck, that Fox interview sounds like we're not spending any money until something happens.

Mad old Randy wafting about the place with his AVFC annual and a handful of Panini stickers, talking passionately about the club.

Im a little puzzled by those worrying about the effects the period of exclusivity will have on next season.

We've been shit for ages, another few weeks wont make any difference.

But by the time this period finishes Altidore might have signed for someone else.

Does anyone know he will have appointed as lawyers?  I have a very good friend who will be able to give us some gossip if we can find out which company.
Randy uses Squire Patton Boggs

Cheers. Will post if my friend comes back with anything worth noting.

If he needs representation before the SDT when the SRA haul him over the coals for breach of client confidentiality I'll be pleased to assist...

That was my thought. I'm also struggling to see how a person could apparently have an inside line to every law firm in the country.
