If it's a firm big enough to deal with a high profile acquisition, then it's one that takes the code of conduct pretty seriously.

If he's your mate, it's probably for the best that you don't ask him to give you information that could see him sacked and struck off.

It certainly appears to be a fortunate coincidence that his mate just happens to work for the exact firm mentioned.  And that this mate didn't know the firm did stuff for Lerner, but is now going to find out confidential info and pass it on in secret.  Chinny  reckon indeed.
