I think after the Blues I would prefer an american

Same here. I don't want my club owned by Chinese. Nothing racist in it, it's the fact Small Heath were run into the ground by them. Steer well clear.

I realise it isn't racist but aren't we into the world of gross generalisations here about a country of 1.3 billion people. I'm sure there are plenty of dodgy Chinese business people but the U.S. And Europe aren't exactly whiter than white in that regard.

'They' didn't run SHA into the ground, it was just one crooked hairdresser and we all owe him a debt of gratitude.

Like Gillett and Hicks?  Or the Glazers? Nationality has nothing to do with it, Blues got a shit Chinese owner that doesn't mean anyone from China looking at buying a club is going to be shit, it just means that a shit club owned by people with no morals was sold to to a shit new owner with no morals.

Whatever we may think of his decision making as an owner Randy has always tried to do the best for the club, whichever offer he's following up on I think we have to assume that it's the one which he feels is best for the club.  As I said a few pages back, Chinese buyers would make sense given the money they're putting into the city and HS2, it becomes a lot like the Sheikhs at Man City who are spending a fortune on the whole area and using the club as the vehicle for that.  I think we'd find that it came as part of a much bigger project in the city with the success of the club being a way to improve prospects for the other investments.

Isn't forming a negative opinion on over a billion people based on one particular person the very definition of "racism"?

I'm not saying that in a "tutting whilst waving the racism card at someone", just saying that it could certainly be interpreted that way.

You could very well point at that there America and say "I don't want any of those to own us, look what those two idiots did to Liverpool a few years ago".

Exactly. Just because one Chinese owner was rubbish doesn't mean another would be. Nationality doesn't come into it, it's about the capability of the individual/group.

Quite. You could also say, "I don't want American owners, look what that idiot did to Villa these past five years."

All 1.4 billion of them can't all be crooks.  In any case, they'll take over the world sooner or later so better for us to be first if it has to be.

edit: I'd agree we should steer well clear of hairdressers though, even if they are expensive ones.

Having said that, hypothetically speaking, would anyone be open to a Nigerian owner?

A prince, maybe?

Via email?

My ITK tells me that Villa have had several offers along these lines that they are considering carefully.

Randy said the following when he finally spoke last May about putting us up for sale.

"Above all, the debt I owe Aston Villa whether as owner, Chairman, custodian or simply as a fan is to put the Club first".

Does anyone trust him to honour this pledge? Can't say I'd be prepared to bet my mortgage on it

You're probably right with all you've said, but I still don't want Villa owned by Chinese, and I know that makes me sound terrible.

I trust him. I wouldn't bet my mortgage on anything though.

I knew I shouldn't have filled in that application form for the Westboro Baptist Church.

I do.
I believe him too. Randy may have his faults but I believe he is an honourable man.
