Mega rich Qataris have ruined the World Cup and are now desperate for some good football PR. Buy Aston Villa, buy Premier League safety, buy the best managers, buy the best players and then buy all of the trophies. It's what Citeh did. And Barcelona thrashed them.

All before the introduction of FFP.  Now it's more a case of Buy Aston Villa, buy Premier League safety, buy good managers, buy good players and then buy a Europa League spot and the tantalising proposition of Thursday night games in some far flung corner of Eastern Europe.

I'm sure there are plenty of potential buyers, if we stay up we'd be a snip at £150million (if that really is the price).

According to The Telegraph yesterday, talks have been held with two interested parties but, as has been stated on here many times before, both are holding off to see if we survive in the Premiership before becoming really serious about bidding. Will either still be interested if we don't? I think it's possible, if he price were the footballing equivalent of BMW selling Rover to John Towers and his mates for a Quid.

And that's the problem with dropping the asking price too far, you encourage the likes of Widow Twanky and his entourage down the road  to sniff around.

or more positively, it gives the new owners a sensible transfer/salary budget, being unencumbered with a higher/unrealistic asking price. Let's think positively, it doesn't all have to be doom and gloom small heath comparisons

Aston Villa’s Premier League status is in serious jeopardy, which is clearly hampering owner Randy Lerner’s attempts to sell the club – and certainly his attempts to recoup his investment.  Lerner declared last summer that he was shelving the sale for this season – basically because no buyer could be found – while there are persistent rumours that he is willing to slash his asking price should someone be prepared to come forward. That price may fall as low as £100 million.  Now there does, finally, appear to be two interested parties. Both are said to be serious in their intent and initial discussions have taken place, with the Villa sale being handled by Bank of America Merrill Lynch.  It is unlikely that anything will progress before the end of this season simply because relegation would have a huge impact on what price Villa could fetch – and whether those potential buyers remain interested in the first place. Conversely, if Villa avoid the drop, and given the new £5 billion television deal, then Lerner may feel buoyed to raise his asking price again.
