It has already been posted but I am attracted to the concept that the statement made by Randy last week was aimed more at interested parties that the fans. If you think about it there are three alternative scenarios. We either have a single buyer with whom the club is negotiating. Or there is no imminent buyer. Or, what I lean towards believing, there is more than one interested party and of them Randy has a preferred buyer. In that situation what does he do? He discourages bottom fishers by sending out the message that we prepare for the new season with modest but adequate investment while at the same time giving the preferred buyer a relatively clean sheet to build on. It could be that we are underestimating our owner's business acumen and he may be playing a very canny hand. Or the opposite depending on your personal take on our plight.

When the sheiks bought Manchester City, the sale finally went through on the last day of the window, at which point they tried to buy every player in Europe in the last few hours.

Just goes to show..... something or other.

What has always made me scratch my head a little bit is; why takeover a club after the transfer window, when you can’t fix any playing staff problems? You may well screw up your investment before you’ve even started.
That's why Randy issued the statement, to let perspective buyers know the club will not be run into the ground, but kept ticking over with modest investment,  ready for someone to take over at any time.

I just get the impression that putting the club up for sale is merely a smoke screen so as to conveniently not have to invest any more money in the club & there's nothing the loyal fans can do about it apart from grin & bare it.

Others will & probably already have had just simply voted with their feet.

Desperate times lay ahead.

Time to wise up. The take over appears to be scotch mist & we've all been duped.

I sincerely hope I'm wrong but these are sad days to be a Villa fan though  I'll always support them through thick & thin. Always.

The sad truth though is we are evolving & metamorphosing into small heath alliance with every passing day.

Shameful what we have allowed ourselves to become & how low our standards have slipped. This is Aston Villa for God sake!

I hate myself for writing this but it only goes to prove that the truth hurts.

I can never ever recall not looking forward to a new season. Never. Even in 87 when we went down we had brought in Garry Thompson, Martin Keown & Neale Cooper & nobody was expecting the worst then prior to the big kick off.

The current situation stinks.

Etcetera....

This is a bit obvious, darling, even by regular trolling standards.

Agree Lou.   That was Troll Tenderfoot Part I.   Part II has to include belligerence and aggression towards other fans who do not agree that "our once proud and mighty club is going the same way as...tick any box."  Wolves/Coventry/Leeds/Wimbledon/Forest/Corinthian Casuals.

It's been clear before that its a troll. Its more fun when they're upfront though. This one is just so yawnsome.

To be fair, if I was a nose I would want to pretend to be a Villa fan too.

I'd love to have seen one of the unwashed opening up their new diary all excited and everything.

I must admit I have been doing a pretty good impression of being a nose for weeks now. Every Saturday I have been nowhere near a football ground and have been out shopping with the wife and kids. The difference being that I do it in the close season and they do it all year round.
