I'm sure this means nothing, but apparently the bloke on VT who works at the airport, thetrees, has just said on twitter that Randy's jet was supposed to be leaving to go back to the US this morning but has changed plans and is now going to Milan.

*insert ridiculously unlikely theory here*

Berlusconi will team up with Doug to buy us out and form a super-ego dream team.

Is this why we are trying to sign Bendtner? Some sort of super ego dream team?

Once the takeover goes through we will sign Ronaldo, Ibrahimovic and Rooney to round things off nicely.

I think we ought to be aiming a tad higher. a couple of that triumvirate no longer cut the mustard for me.

I can understand Rooney but who of the other 2 are you writing off?  The one who is the current world player of the year and got 51 in 47 last season or the one who got 41 in 45 as part of his 11th title winning season in his career?

I just put this on the Transfer Thread, but that odd Facebook account claiming to be Fabian Delph has just written, "More good news coming your way, keep an eye out."

Doesn't the "more" bit imply there has been some good news already? In which case, what was that?
Probably the Bent signing is the most recent thing I can remember.

Don't know why you two are so down, we were 12 points away from finishing 9th last season. Hadn't you heard?

Indeed, the margins between top six and bottom six are so tiny these days, it can be decided by something as trivial as winning more matches and losing fewer.

That wasn't the point being made. It was that the margins are so fine that beating Stoke twice, instead of losing to them twice would have seen us finish above them. This was in the context of O'Learyisms about the Stokes and Swanseas of this world.

You can substitute Stoke for Fulham, Palace or any of the other crap we performed poorly against and lost, in stark contrast to the rare occasion we would play a Chelsea or an Arsenal and resemble something like a football team.

It was a joke about our inability to win matches rather than a serious comment on a previous post, Ads.

Although you're effectively saying the same thing - "beat Stoke twice instead of losing to them twice" would have seen us finish further up the tables. Ultimately that's winning more matches and losing fewer.

We lost so many matches last season that even the "shit" teams were beating us - 0 points from 18 in matches against Fulham, Stoke and Palace, for example.

End of the day, it's a failure to win enough matches - so, for example, as you said, turn two defeats into two wins against Stoke and we finish above them.

Which sounds like a fine margin until you consider the fact that we only managed to win 8 league matches all season last year.

It may of course have nothing to do with Villa.

Where does that Cortese fella live..... Milan I thought was where he was interviewed recently.

We probably will. When the sale goes through in 2020

It came as an attempt to add a little shade to what was becoming a one sided debate. Merely suggesting that getting key players fit and playing regularly should be enough to ease our worries next season as the line between struggling and comparative comfort really aren't that wide.

Clearly it's nothing to get excited about but somebody had to offer a little balance.

I think having adequate cover for our key players is more of a realistic aim than keeping them fit for the entire season, given our recent injury history. I appreciate that Lambert is trying to address this as much as he can with little to spend and, as uninspiring as they are, Senderos and Cole will improve the squad and bring much needed experience.

Yes that ties in with my ITK that we are being sold to the Antonio Family the famous Italian Ice Cream Billionaires and we will be changing our name to Antonio Vanilla

Where did you get that lovely soft material that lines your walls? (Randy was asking)
Your mum sent it to me.
