The downward spiral that the club has been in won't be stopped by signing the likes of Cole or Senderos nor the re-habilitation of the bomb squad. Offering contracts to Delph, Vlar & to a lesser extent Gabby would be a start. Losing them now or later for nothing whilst entering the second half of next season being able to talk to other clubs is not a situation we want. Rightly or wrongly we, as mere supporters, can't do anything about that.

No matter how justified it is, we can & must cut out the negativity because it is self defeating. As sad as it sounds; like most of us; next to family supporting the villa is one of the most important things in my life. So like when my family need me I'm there, without question & often against my better judgement. Now when the Villa really need me I'll be there, I can fully understand why others have had enough. I've said the same many many times over the last 2 years but I can't ever see the day where I would turn my back on the club. After yet another home defeat I'll moan like fuck, come on here, rant but still be at the next game. Long after the likes of Lerner & the current squad have gone Aston Villa will still exist & whilst I'm able to, I'll be there too. Call it blind faith, loyalty or stupidity it's what I do to 'enjoy' my weekends. Keep telling yourself 'the good times are just around the corner' & maybe, just maybe, they are.

Keep the lions flag flying high.

We'll get £5m for Vlaar when he goes so there's some more for the kitty...
Not if Lerner keeps it.

I am as negative as the next man, but am I alone in thinking Ron has looked pretty much, well, "meh", in this tournament?

There is precious little evidence of lerner taking money out of the club.

Thought Roncrete did well in the opening game and has looked a bit like a villa defender at the World Cup since then. If he does leave (hope not) it would be quite funny if Yanited sign him as he will weaken their defence quite nicely. Agent Ron ?

Great post. Sums up the emotional roller coaster very well.

On a purely rational level though, I fear we may well be fucked.

Ha ha, that made me laugh more than it should have.

If this assertion about £10m including wages is so utterly wide of the mark let the club come our and deny it.  It's potentially hugely divisive so let them consider it to be an important rumour to quash.

I am all for better communications from the club, not sure that every time some  journalist makes an unfounded speculative comment, that the club should demean themselves by responding.

As someone who only occasionally browses TBAR, has the takeover talk died down over there.

I went and had a look earlier and couldn't really see anything.  I know they prefer positivity over negativity (good luck with that one - we're Brummies) but has Admin disappeared or is it still imminent?

John2710 your post is excellent and heartfelt and I congratulate you for it but it expresses exactly and precisely how I felt two years ago. Bitterness and cynicism now are my match companions.

I should add why bitterness and rancour beset my love of Aston Villa. It can be summed up in two departures. I truly believed when Doug Ellis went whoever replaced him would be an improvement and I believed when Alex McLeish left whoever replaced him would be an improvement. Hope in both cases burned brightly for a brief time but died. Cue the onset of bitterness and cynicism.
