We spent £10m ish on Okore and Kozak. Must have got Bacuna, Steer, Luna, Tonev and Helenius for nothing.

Possibly £10m net? I assume we got something for Bannan? Lambert has always insisted the numbers reported we paid are inflated. Sid seems to be backing him up.

At least Londonboy is still on the pulse

I think he is in a conference call with Brother Beyond to find out the latest news.

Mystery mans post is exactly where I think we are and how we got here re Randy

he had to tell everyone he was selling at the end of the season because he is not willing to keep pumping money into the club, if he didn't say anything it would all look a bit odd when things were not changing, now we will all know why

Villa have been officially put up for sale just over a week ago in my view, and we are right at the begining of any sale,  obviously I don't know if there is any interested parties, but I don't see this one getting played out quickly

Lambert had been retained on because no other decent manager would come on a tempory basis, I would think Lambert will be well numerated by randy when it's all finalised that's the only reason he would stay, loyalty to randy and money

We can only get behind Lambert and support the team next season and hope to fuck that we can stay in the prem whilst a buyer is found

Or the more positive spin. He started looking for a buyer for the Browns but it was already well under way and the sale was confirmed a matter of weeks later.

He would be a headcase to release the statements he has if he didn't know we would be sold soon.

His recent statement read as a goodbye. Not what I would be putting out if I had just decided to sell it. It would have involved comment about how I would still stick my hand in my pocket in uncertain times.

I don't know that to be the case but I hope so. It will cost me twenty quid if not and, after years of writing for H+V, believe I have learned enough from Dave to be considered a tightarse!

The first reports that we're for sale were in february, and all signs points that Lerner has been preparing for that for a while, for example turning the 90.1 million loan into equity, but don't let those facts stop doom mongering.

My view is that sale of Villa had been under negotiations in the spring, and due our form post-Chelsea they were put on hold until our safety was guaranteed, and resumed after the season ended, which would make a lot of sense from the buyer's perspective.

One guy who's long time poster in VT said week ago or so that he works for BoA and there's deal going on with the american billionaire who owns american sports team, and completing the deal would take 4-6 weeks...and *boom* Robert Rich's jet lands on Birmingham airport yesterday, and day before that jet from american lawfim who has handled sport franchaise sales in USA also landed.

Quite the coincidence I'd say, maybe it's just a coincidence but I'm not getting worried until it's july and we have no new owner.

Oh, and I googled and found out that Due Dilligence usually takes a month to complete with smaller businesses, and that would coincide with his 4-6 weeks.

I have learned enough from Dave to be considered a tightarse!

What about the takeover, how do you see that panning out?

I tend to agree with you. Remember when Randy shocked us all by suddenly finding 18mil for Darren Bent. Nobody expected that. Hopefully
something will appear on the OS during June that will confirm he does actually know what he is doing.

I am moving towards the opinion that Randy is not prepared to spend another cent on the Villa.   I think Lambert is being retained to avoid a pay off, players are being allowed to leave without so much a passing attempt to retain them.   The cheese paring and gas meter robbing mentality has taken a total hold at Villa Park.   Two weeks ago I shuddered at the thought of AlFayed taking over the club.   I now believe we shall be lucky to get a buyer or buyers remotely that good.

I agree Brian Green. I think we are heading for a Venky's II type takeover.

It doesn't make sense to allow Vlaar and Delph to run down their contracts. Is this because Randy is hoping that someone else will deal with their contracts? Surely he would want to keep these two?

I agree Brian Green. I think we are heading for a Venky's II type takeover.

Based on what evidence, your own pessimism excluded?

Randy has consistently used the term custodian and alluded to the fact that he would step aside for someone who can do a better job.  Why does 10 days of - no takeover news, conffirmation that the manager is staying until a sale completes, the release of 2 players who were out of contract and a new contract for a young-ish player - suddenly mean we're going to be sold to chancers?

Get a bit of perspective, yes the current situation is bad but we have no idea what is happening regarding a takeover, anything you think might be happening right now is guesswork, same as everyone else, so why guess at the worst possible outcome and then complain about it repeatedly?

I don't see how 'Mysteryman' can know Lerners inners thoughts and intentions. Although I can believe that Lerner is henpecked.

We are at the mercy of Lerner's vanity and sense of duty. With Doug, there was always the comfort of knowing that he would have to live with the consequences of his actions. He lived locally, Aston Villa was an overwhelming proportion of his raison d'etre. He was never going to be able to separate himself totally from the fate of the club.

In Lerner's world few will care less about what is to them some obscure sports team in England. Even if they did they will have an ethos that a bad deal does not make a bad man. He will always be the guy that sold MBNA or the Browns, not the guy that made a good or bad job of owning Aston Villa.

If all this is because Lerners new gash is nagging him I'll nominate myself to go over there and give her a good slap.

Sorry for getting all Scudamore.
